Description Here it is, folks. The Ebon Spire itself.

Some FAQs on the Spire itself.

-How tall is it?
-Roughly over one kilometer. For reference, that's just over this thing's height: [link]

-How do you get in?
-As logic would have it, a ship that size has plenty of smaller entryways. The mouths on the three large faces are giant gateways, though.

-So the Spire can be i multiple dimensions at once. Does that mean it can be attacked from multiple dimensions at once?
-Yes. The more dimensions the Spire occupies at a time the further its attention is spread the the more vulnerable it is to attack.

-Other than the Planet Crackers, what weapons does it have? does it have shields or other defenses?
-The Spire in constantly surrounded by its own unique energy field. This field is unrivaled as a ship defensive mechanism as it uses the Spire's reality shifting technology to simply let incoming attack bounce off, phase through harmlessly, or disappear to another dimension.
It can also use this field to fire bolts of deadly energy at enemy ships, which once again make use of reality phasing to rip through nearly any armor.
Combine this with drones capable of space flight, teleportation, invisibility, and whatever tech participants want to add to the list and you've got a ship you don't want to mess with.

-Isn't that... overpowered?
-That's sorta the point of this setting.

-What are the Inner and Outer Cloister like? Are there bars, smaller fighting rings, merchants, etc?
-The Outer Cloister is mostly a prison to a ghetto while the Inner Cloister is indeed fit with bars and merchants and minor cage fights and the like, yes.

-So are aliens on board as well as robots?
-Many aliens who pay tribute to, seek to mooch off of, or have been enslaved by the Spire dwell on the ship and run some of the "shops" and the like in the Cloisters as well as serve in some official positions.

-What sort of currency do they use?
-Barter is your best bet.

-Does the Spire have a medical center?
-Yes. A good one, too.

-Where does the Spire grow food?
-Trade, mostly. But it's possible it could have some gardens or synthetic food processors.

More laser than bullet. The Spire's whole deal is sorta abstract. I'd call it more like a beam of energy that breaks down the very dimensional fabric of what it strikes, creating some pretty devastating chemical reactions.

But DAMN, those Monoliths are huge.

Okay, so it's like.. okay I'm not gonna go into complete Advent Combine Tech here.. but okay. The Monoliths use a mix of energy weapons and bullets and missiles and whatnot, so this should be fun. Also if you think regular Monoliths are big, you should see the Omega Monolith. It's big enough to ram through a gas giant ten times the size of Jupiter. Which is UDAC's homeworld, PX-001.

But yeah I'll get back to you with a ref of my entry character, and probably soon after with the audition hopefully.

You should use one of Earth's radiuses to measures it better.

I have a question.

Competitors are held in cells, right? Is there any specific location, and what is their appearance?

Ebon-Spire-OCT In reply to zipperaward [2009-01-14 01:00:17 +0000 UTC]

Anywhere in the Outer Cloisters will do for cells. Appearance is up to you guys, really, as not all cells will be the same and we want to allow room for creativity.

How aggressive would the spire be when infringing upon a world? Thrall and robot attacks? Energy beams? etc.
Because that decides how much kickass I could fit into an audition.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beanjamish In reply to TheTenk [2009-01-13 18:33:28 +0000 UTC]

Aggression would probably totally depend on the situation. A primitive world that didn't see it coming could be as simple a process as landing and sending a few drones squads out. An advanced/ powerfully magic world might be subject to attacks from orbit and whatnot before massive ground invasions.

It's all up to how you want to tell the story, really.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear, thank you. (first paragraph, that is. you always want to hear "do what you want", so that doesn't count)

Question, if intruders that are not signed up for the tournament entered without permission but didn't do anything serious, would they be caught or ignored?

Beanjamish In reply to Gold-Paladin [2009-01-13 18:31:30 +0000 UTC]

This one I'd leave up to you, depending on how you'd want to tell the story.

Probably my last question I hope, sorry for asking a lot of questions. For the drones and servitors, what is there usual color?

White, primarily.

....God damn it! The spire is bloody awesome but I'm gonna have a hard time drawing the ship plus I don't know much about gothic architecture.

No need to go full detail if you show it. In those first two images I made it little more than some basic black shapes glowing red.

Beanjamish In reply to shibosho [2009-01-13 07:50:31 +0000 UTC]

The "mouths" of the three Outer Cloisters are huge doors, but it's a massive ship. There are docking bays and the like, too.

Actually, I might note you with my questions now that all the info save Neri's judge is up.

would breaking down the doors bring in security?

Beanjamish In reply to shibosho [2009-01-13 07:53:08 +0000 UTC]

Most certainly.

The main doors are like, 12 stories high, by the way.

shibosho In reply to Beanjamish [2009-01-13 07:59:29 +0000 UTC]

Hmm...well that puts a wrech into my audition plans....would blasting a small hole in the doors large enough to fit a person bring in security?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beanjamish In reply to shibosho [2009-01-13 08:38:34 +0000 UTC]

Possibly. Up to you there.

shibosho In reply to Beanjamish [2009-01-13 08:59:33 +0000 UTC]

okay, would banging on the doors for a long time get any reaction for the residents of the spire?

See, now, are we talking New-york Skyscrapers? London Skyscrapers? Sydney skybrushers? We need specifics here.

Otherwise we could be talking about a 400 metre tower when it's really 600 metres! Do you really want the consequences of that on your shoulders?
