Description Here it is, folks. The Ebon Spire itself.

Some FAQs on the Spire itself.

-How tall is it?
-Roughly over one kilometer. For reference, that's just over this thing's height: [link]

-How do you get in?
-As logic would have it, a ship that size has plenty of smaller entryways. The mouths on the three large faces are giant gateways, though.

-So the Spire can be i multiple dimensions at once. Does that mean it can be attacked from multiple dimensions at once?
-Yes. The more dimensions the Spire occupies at a time the further its attention is spread the the more vulnerable it is to attack.

-Other than the Planet Crackers, what weapons does it have? does it have shields or other defenses?
-The Spire in constantly surrounded by its own unique energy field. This field is unrivaled as a ship defensive mechanism as it uses the Spire's reality shifting technology to simply let incoming attack bounce off, phase through harmlessly, or disappear to another dimension.
It can also use this field to fire bolts of deadly energy at enemy ships, which once again make use of reality phasing to rip through nearly any armor.
Combine this with drones capable of space flight, teleportation, invisibility, and whatever tech participants want to add to the list and you've got a ship you don't want to mess with.

-Isn't that... overpowered?
-That's sorta the point of this setting.

-What are the Inner and Outer Cloister like? Are there bars, smaller fighting rings, merchants, etc?
-The Outer Cloister is mostly a prison to a ghetto while the Inner Cloister is indeed fit with bars and merchants and minor cage fights and the like, yes.

-So are aliens on board as well as robots?
-Many aliens who pay tribute to, seek to mooch off of, or have been enslaved by the Spire dwell on the ship and run some of the "shops" and the like in the Cloisters as well as serve in some official positions.

-What sort of currency do they use?
-Barter is your best bet.

-Does the Spire have a medical center?
-Yes. A good one, too.

-Where does the Spire grow food?
-Trade, mostly. But it's possible it could have some gardens or synthetic food processors.

Ud-the-Imp [2009-02-23 06:44:40 +0000 UTC]

The Spire was created by Satan himself as a way to harvest souls to increase his own power without having to go through the trouble of sending agents to claim those willing to sell them to him and as a possible way to spearhead his (own believed) eventually invasion and take over of heaven itself. Satan was able to assemble the massive ship very quickly using the chosiest and most advanced technologies and magic across the entire omniverse due to the infinite and boundless nature of reality itself.

However, when Lucifer found out about this ship after usurping Satan as ruler of Hell and taking his name as a title, Lucy, seeing as he already achieved his wish of becoming God's equal as long as he continued to rule Hell, thought the Spire to useless and tossed it.

From their, the Spire activated and went on its original programming of harvesting souls. Though without a master to give those souls to, it went on random killing sprees, so to speak. It eventually gained sentience and created its own crew and refined its mass murdering to merely creating gladitorial type events and entertainment.

However, just before (relatively speaking) Fractal's creation, it began to question its own actions and its original purpose. The Spire ON PURPOSELY put itself into self comatose once it realized it was supposed the very weapon that the Lord of Hell would use to strike down God and possibly end all existence, but didn't want to destroy itself since it already came so far.

From here, it was basically Fractal's show. At first it was merely the single order of continuing the Spire's gladitorial fights, but then as time wore on and Fractal started gaining sentience herself, a combination of delusion, core programming, and God complexity led even HERSELF to believe that she's following the Spire's orders when in fact almost everything was her own decision.

That's my theory....

Thralls can leave. Drones typically can't leave for long distances/ times but if you want to make up a special version (like Hubb) that can go ahead.

Ebon-Spire-OCT In reply to TheTenk [2009-02-20 20:27:04 +0000 UTC]

Many of them are probably a little stronger and faster than humans but they are hardly special. A bullet to the head kills them just fine.

Ebon-Spire-OCT In reply to BleaOneNaruCat17 [2009-01-31 22:06:27 +0000 UTC]

Well, up to you really.
Hubb is the one to often be sent on away missions. He might be accompanied by any of the Spire "races" (Thralls, servitors, drones).
If the Spire is nearby, as in landed, then any of the other lead NPCs can leave it so long as they stay within a few miles.

Or optionally you could not include a main NPC and use the more killable fellows like the drones, servitors, and thralls.

MotoPsycho72 [2009-01-23 08:22:46 +0000 UTC]

A couple of quick questions;

First, how far and long, if at all, can thralls survive outside of the Spire?

Secondly, how far and long can Drones survive outside of the Spire?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ebon-Spire-OCT In reply to MotoPsycho72 [2009-01-23 15:08:59 +0000 UTC]

Once again, largely up to you. Thralls can survive pretty far as they do not draw life force from the Spire. Drones mostly can only last a day or two before losing power, but there is no reason more specialized one like Hubb couldn't be made.

Demented-Pumpkin [2009-01-22 14:58:42 +0000 UTC]

Um question, is the Spire resistant to damage caused by.....I dunno.....an F-22 Raptor's missile?

Because I'm thinking of blowing up a tiiiiny (veeeeeery tiny) hole on the Spire so my character can get in.

Ebon-Spire-OCT In reply to Demented-Pumpkin [2009-01-22 20:36:03 +0000 UTC]

If you're blowing a hole in it just to get in that's fine.

Demented-Pumpkin In reply to Ebon-Spire-OCT [2009-01-23 07:25:26 +0000 UTC]

Lastly, are you guys uploading anymore references regarding the inner layout of the Spire (apart from the existing ones already)?

Or is it preferrable that we get imaginative and base our ideas on the existing reference guides?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ebon-Spire-OCT In reply to Demented-Pumpkin [2009-01-23 20:10:22 +0000 UTC]

There will indeed be no more reference of the interior. Best to go off what we posted, and remember the "industrial meets gothic" theme.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Demented-Pumpkin In reply to Ebon-Spire-OCT [2009-01-24 02:40:52 +0000 UTC]

So the overall general theme is gothic/industrial with red/black/metallic sci-fi in terms of coloration? Okay gotcha, I'm gonna start on my character ref, and I've already planned my audition, thanks a bunch for all the info!

I know I've asked soooo many questions, it's just that I've already planned ahead for this OCT. -_-'''''

Semi-random questions here....

Is there any organic environment in the spire or is it completely metal?
If there is no organic environment, is there a storage area that holds matter from other planets?

Mostly stone and metal. If you want to put a park or something in there you are welcome too. There would have to be food for the organic crew members and guests, too.

I'm thinking of entering, but I need to know something about the Spire's weaponry. As it's gunna go toe to toe with one of our Monoliths.

..which..are really.. similar in purpose to the spire, terraforming and whatnot.

..anyway.. What weapons defensive or offensive or whatever..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ebon-Spire-OCT In reply to GlasswallProductions [2009-01-17 00:49:58 +0000 UTC]

That's not something too far thought out and honestly is up to you to be creative with. It at LEAST has planet crackers but those are slow. Defensively it has its whole dimensional displacement deal. It might be very veyr hard to hit for a giant chunk of rock and metal.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GlasswallProductions In reply to Ebon-Spire-OCT [2009-01-17 01:15:37 +0000 UTC]

Well it's gonna be up against a U.D.A.C. Monolith. Which are Terra forming ships like the Spire, albeit bigger. Monoliths being heavily armored and shielded along with a large array of standard weapons and weapons of mass (Planetary )destruction.
As U.D.A.C. is a planetary invading force the Monolith also comes with Capital ships and a good sized army of General purpose soldiers ( My entry being one of them )and Tri-podal War Machines known as Seekers.

They burrow into planets to the core, which is usually about half their length, the other half towering into the sky like a
Armored Sky Scraper reaching into orbit and sometimes beyond, are about 3 miles wide at the 'base' (where the Monolith enters the ground)

I'll try to do a vague ref of one along with my entry.

So all in all, I guess I just need to know one thing, for it's offensive weapons, are you thinking lasers or bullets?
