Living in a semi-rural area, Madeline and Enzo dodge the protests. However, their house has a grand view of the smoke plume.

Madeline is curious about it. She hasn't seen anything like this... but something about it prevented her from digging a hole under the fence and going to it. It smelled funny... and caused her lungs to hurt a bit. But she couldn't take her eyes off the black mass rising in the air.

The only thing that would take her eyes off the plume is hearing Enzo calling her name to come inside. Madeline always came when called now, so she would head inside, but once she was let back out later it was back to watching the mass of darkness.

Someone is scared of the fire...

The literal red sky is inspired by a photo a friend from California sent in a server we're in last year - where the sky was a bright blood red. i myself have seen vibrant skies caused by fires, specifically an orange sky in 2014 that scared the shit out of me, but the sky in my friend's photo was RED red like this. It was haunting and eerie.
