It might be hard to find, but its pretty good. And it was the first Disney animated movie to be rated PG.

The Black Cauldron is a Disney masterpiece, and its style should be emulated more often---a Disney animated film WITH NO SONGS!!!!Β  It's a miracle!!!

I agree, there need to be more films like it.

I do personally like the Disney songs, though. Sure, their romance songs are meh, but the villain songs... so many good villain songs. Like Hellfire, that's a good song.

Yes, the villains sing well...and I love the Old Songs from the Old movies--Jungle Book can never be topped, song-wise, and the songs in Sword And The Stone are delightful!

I still haven't seen the Sword in the Stone, but I have heard Merlin's song once. It always puzzled me when I used to spot Merlin in Disney World and I was unaware of the movie's existence. ^^'

You....haven't seen it yet?

You are in for a treat---do not delay, get it as soon as you can!Β  Don't you realize that it contains THE SINGLE GREATEST SCENES IN ALL ANIMATION---namely, the Wizards' Duel between Merlin and Madam Mim!Β

I'll try.

My parents just didn't like it, so they never got it to watch. We do have a copy of Song of the South, though. Had to purchase it either from Canada or France...

My favorite of all is Sleeping Beauty, it's so visually stunning--like a Medieval tapestry brought to life!

Oh, it is very beautiful. And Maleficent is a fun villain.

I like Hunchback of Notre Dame. Sure, its 'not like the book' and the gargoyles can be annoying at times, but its got great animation and great characters.

I hate how hard it is to find cool stuff about the Black Cauldron. I love that movie ^^

EbonyShroud In reply to deltafairy [2014-03-12 04:53:42 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. I wonder if they still have any of the costumes in any of the Disney Parks...

I heard that the Horned King showed in in Disneyland Toyko, so at least he is liked.

Wow!Β  The Black Cauldron!Β  I haven't seen much fanart for it before, but it was such a good movie.Β  And this picture was very recognizable.Β  Β  I just watched this movie a couple months ago when I found my old VHS copy.Β  I do wish this movie was more popular...

Yeah, its sad how little fanart there is for it. But you can find it with some searching.

Agreed. Hopefully they will release it onto Bluray and it might develop a cult following.

Yeah... I kind of wish there was another movie so that she gets more recognition. I know there are more books in the series they adapted. However, that is unlikely to happen.

i'm not sure which movie this is from but it's a great piece. the most pronounced part of it is her expression, it shows contemplation and loneliness. The proportions are accurate and the hands are well drawn, more than i can say for a LOT of my work. my freehand prof said that the hand is the hardest part of the body to draw. the only drawback on this pic i see is that her shoulder is a bit too rigid, too square, it could be the angle of the hair, but usually the female form has more of a curve to it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EbonyShroud In reply to ChahlesXavier [2014-03-08 19:25:12 +0000 UTC]

I just realized that the reply for this didn't post. I'm sorry. ^^'

The movie is from the Black Cauldron, a Disney movie.

I think it is the hair. I will make sure to adjust it in future pieces. Thank you for the critique.

It was in the late part of my childhood when I was finally able to watch it. Finding it on DVD was tough, although not nearly as hard as some of the other movies that have pretty much vanished into the archives.

EbonyShroud In reply to SonicClone [2014-02-26 03:29:19 +0000 UTC]

I doubt that will happen. They might release it again, but on Blu-Ray? It might not be worth it to the company.

SonicClone In reply to EbonyShroud [2014-02-26 03:33:31 +0000 UTC]

They released the GREATEST PEICE OF ART EVER M.. eheh.s,s I mean.. Treausre Amazing.. I mean, Treasure Planet... on it... two years ago. And, with a growing cult, there are no reasons to say no. Of course, like TP, they might just slap the movie on Blu-Ray and not take detail into the features or options.

EbonyShroud In reply to SonicClone [2014-02-26 03:39:41 +0000 UTC]

Given that the Black Cauldron nearly shut down the entire animation department with its box office failure, they will probably do just that.
