So "perniciously pestersome" did the fae become in the later years of the mid-century period that many--particularly those whose homes and manorials bordered woodland areas known to be home to the ur-naturals--were driven to devise faerie-traps of various degrees both of ingeniousness and, it must be unfortunately mentioned, humane-ness. Baited with various technical niceties known to attract their objects' interest, these inventive snares servd the sole purpose of alluring and imprisoning the bothersome creatures, and preventing further pilferage and pernicious mischief aimed at retarding the Progress of Science and Aengenieering. Enemies of the Empire, perhaps, but still a species of antique and honorable lineage, worthy of more respectful treatment, some would say, than cold bondage in an iron-worked cage. In his series of images of faekind, photogryphist Luxet Tenebrae seems to be capturing, if not commenting disapprovingly upon, the "faery-trap" practice.
