That’s definitely a cool painting, and to me the face is the strongest part: the angle is interesting, and while the expression is fairly subtle, you can still feel a grin on the face. I really like the brush strokes used throughout, as they work well for fur.

I think the shading is fairly good but I would have a few suggestions to maybe enhance it. To start, I think the balance of green light and orange light is too even. Keeping the green light close to what it is now, I’d reduce the orange light to make it more of a rim light and keeping the back of the character darker. It would create more contrast.

You could also have the shadows a bit reddish to match with the orange back light and avoid having too many grey tones. It looks fine close up in my opinion, but you end up with a neutral grey-looking character looking at the thumbnail, which isn’t very eye-catching.

Last suggestion would be to add just a thing or two to the background. It’s already quite nice to have a table and drink so as to establish the setting of the scene, but the back wall looks a little bit empty, which really is an easy fix. Find a few photos of bars and pubs, see what’s on their walls, choose one thing and draw that in haha.

Anyway, I think it’s a very well-painted illustration overall. I especially enjoy the face and the brushwork. It looks like a pretty tough character to draw, too! xD

The lighting is really good in this drawing.
And the shading is well thought out, even if in some places it looks a little strange, like on the ears.

Speaking of the ears, I don't think they're placed quite right on the head. It looks like they're way back.
