I recently finished watching what is now one of my all-time favorite anime, "Ascendance of a Bookworm". Being an avid reader myself, plus a lover of anime, manga, fantasy, and such, this was a story that I immediately fell in love with. Myne, the main character of the story, and her love of books inspires her to do everything in her power to create books in a medieval fantasy world where books are only a thing for the rich and noble. But being a part of a peasant family, that is not an option... But that won't stop her! If she can't buy books, she will make them herself!

Myne's determination and singular focus were fascinating. As was her deep attachment to her family and loved ones. These all made for a much more powerful story than I was expecting, and I loved it all the more for it.

And even better, this is the first illustration I have drawn in quite some time. It was my enjoyment for the story and characters of the series that allowed me to get this far. I hope that this is the first of many more illustrations to come. We'll see. I enjoyed working on this, and I want the inspiration and feeling I had while working on this image to continue. I hope that is a good sign!
