I used to have the collections of Transformers toys. But now... my cousin's the only one collecting transformers toys. As well as my young friend. (^_^)

They're a great thing to get into. I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.

Thanks for the faves, BTW.

You're welcome. (^_^)

And I also can't wait for the Transformers movie directed by Michael Bay.

I don't care what anyone says. I will go to that movie, and I will enjoy it.

NOTHING (aside from an act of God) SHALL PREVENT THAT.

And I am going to watch it with my friends and my brother. (^_^)

The movie may feel like The Island but I think thats what might make it really exciting. (^_^)

i was going to say ever plan to use them in a photo comic fashion but thats way too much work anyway
i tried it once myself and gave up half way through

I've been tempted more than once, but the big problem with long photo comics is that I couldn't feature all the characters I have in the storyline (especially as I lack a few odd toys here and there). I might do minor explanatory bits here and there in photocomic form, but I doubt I'd go with a full fledged comic.

Really want to, though.

i dont think the toys are the problem
you are doing an armada storyline so unless you have fancreated ones you can stil get the toys or if push comes to shove repaints the real problem is how labor intensive it would be
and how convincing it can be because there is no dedicated set for them to be displayed in
unless you are handy with photoshop which still means it would be a monumental task

maybe hooking up with an artist would be a an idea might never know

Have you looked at the entirety of my storyline? I'm featuring characters from Energon, Cybertron, Universe, and the Japanese stuff as well as Armada (and fan characters). The fact that I lack a great deal of skill in Photoshop only increases my difficulties.

As for hooking up with an artist; an excellent idea, but who'd want to do it? And I can't exactly pay them, now can I?

bluekatt In reply to EchoWing [2007-04-26 21:03:51 +0000 UTC]

okay then you have a problem
what japanese stuff exactly ? if its G1 or bw then its almost impossible to get them
nobody said you'd have to pay them after all we are all free artists here i am sure that there are artists out there dedicated enough transformers fans to consider havinga go at it
might never know least you can do is throw out a few tentative hooks and ask around
and if nobody is willing to bite then i guess you should stick with writing

how ever instead of doing the whole story you could use the ones you have to make set pieces have them act a specific scene
might not advance the story but it wil look nice

EchoWing In reply to bluekatt [2007-04-26 21:13:45 +0000 UTC]

Not so much the Japanese toys for G1 or BW, but more along the lines of characters related to the Unicron Trilogy (such as the Linkage Mini-Cons) and a few assorted others (Minerva's meant to be that red and white Thunderblast repaint exclusive to Japan, and I plan on having those mass-produced Sideways doubles show up in the future as well). Not entirely outside of my ability to acquire, but still extremely difficult.

And you're right, it would be worth putting out word and seeing if anyone's interested. Which reminds me, I really need to post this at a few of the clubs here on DA...

And yeah, that'd be a great idea. Gotta consider that...

yes troublesome i am sure more trouble then worth and not al that cheap either
you have to wonder where ben yee gets the money from
299 for a double pack of convention only repaints but i digress

like i said might as wel get the word out even if a artist is only prpeared to draw one chapter it would stil be worth while to pursue just to see what it wil look like

the pin up idea for lack of a better word is easier to pursue then the others i think
or what you might want to do is pick a scene from any given chapter have your toys act that out ( ina single picture ) and then use it as a header for the story to illustrate it ( sounds more complicated then it is )

Well, Ben is on the committee for the 'cons...presumably that entitles him to a discount.

And I will definitely try that.

And yes, toy-based illustrations are definitely a good idea.

is he ? i am not really up to scratch with the fandom these days since i ditched the forums
but even then he rakes in japense toys repaints and minor repaints as well you wonder how he does it
and half of the new toys i dont even know
i am more a comic book reader the cartoons dont air here

good luck with that idea i am sure somebody must be interested

and glad you liek my toy based illustrations idea

Well, he is lucky enough to have access to numerous import shops.

And nothing's wrong with the comics; the more recent stuff from IDW rocks out loud.

Here's hoping, and it's a good idea. Glad that you suggested it.

somethings are stil ludicrously expensive
i would not pay it no

the idw comics are great best comics since the marvel uk days and then some
no baggae no toys to push no silly usa stories ( sorry bob but half of your stories were awfull )
a clean slate and everything just fits and pulsl together i cant wit to ge tmy hands on escalation
the only thing i regret a bit is that they are broken up in actual obviosu story arcs even if they till have that little serial number id rather see that big issue 14 or 15 big on the cover instead of escalation 1 with 11 in the corner
yes i am ranting
but if thats the only fault i can find
suffice to say its very very good

good luck on both accounts

I'm more of a Beast Wars man myself... but awesome collection, nonetheless.

Thanks.

Beast Wars got me into the franchise permanently, so it holds a special place in my heart (and started off the collection, of which this is simply a small fraction). And thanks.

I settled. VP was one of my first guys for Cybertron (along with the initial three Scouts), and while I've been tempted to touch him up here and there, I'm happy with him.
