its real rust, based on 2component-rusteffect. first a kind of metal-paint and 2. some liquid to activate the rust-procedure...

Cool. I know some prop makers make rust by coating a prop in an adhesive and then dusting it with iron patina. You can spray the whole thing with water and get real rust that way too.

after creating the rust, drybrush silver&black will give the rusty&used-look
