the bump map i sa bit to strong in my opinion..makes it look like a burned sausage at darker areas

I don't know if it's come from the bump map but yes i've noticed it on my raw render

One think that come into my mind is SSS ?! when using "fake" subsurface scattering Β the bump maps can be higher than usual and you can still have less burned sausage effect.

This was true with the use of fake SSS, with Iray it's not a fake SSS (?). Btw you still probably right it may comes from the SSS settings used.
