Description Oh Martin Martin Martin, what were you thinking when you started this.

I saw a pastel tiger portait a while ago. It was one of the most increadible pieces I had ever seen. I just had to try pastels again. Today I just got them back for the first time in a year and used them for the first time in a year. Last time I used them was drawing one of 's love dragons. It was ruined in a wind gust as I was going to my car from school. That picture was my final decision to drop and fail college drawing. I was so far behind and losing a picture that had already taken 15+ hours was devestating. I was already 5 homework assignments behind. I did not stand a chance. 'Tis why I do not want to take a formal class ever again. I just cannot handle it.

Anyways, this is 's decease feline friend, Callie. I did this for one of her prizes instead of a trading card because I wanted to work with pastels from a photograph. Well, as you can see, the design is all messed up. I really regret making it and I think Jingle is going to be a little annoyed that this is one of her prizes. *groans*

Ooooooooh... I cannot draw real things for the life of me. I will never attain true realism if I cannot. Ugg.

Drawing realism from photos or real life is the hardest thing for me to do. Ugg. x.x I can attempt it decently off the top of my head but not the real stuff.

Yeah, me too. The best I've managed is my featured deviation, and thats only partly based on real life

You did a decent job for a real life pic. It may not be the best I've ever seen but it's alot better than alot of them.

I will say this how ever. You may have dropped the class but I doubt you would have falled... Mr. Lindeman wouldn't have let you. Your love dragon picture was amazing... It's to bad it got damaged. I was really impressed by the hands and arms on it. You also forgot to mention why it would have taken you so long. It was an 18x24 inch drawing and that is HUGE considering how much detail was in it. You are to hard on yourself. The time you put into your drawings is what sets them apart. The attention to detail is amazing.

Maybe...

I think I would have failed because it was too early in the semester to know if I was getting sick (which I did eventually). I was already working at peak efficiency and fell drastically behind. Maybe you are right, Mr. Lindeman would not have for he had such a kind and loving heart. I miss him, and not because I do not like the new art teacher.

I talked to another professional artist on if I should take that class. He said no, or at least not now. His opinion is that I am not confident to tackle those massive scale drawings in an effective and efficient manner to keep up, especially when still life pictures are really hard for me. He recommends taking his class on color theory and let me slowly get worked into being educated in the arts formally.

I have not decided if I will do that or not, as I am questioning getting an education at all again. We shall see what happens.

I dunno, I like it... I think ~tenko72 summed it up pretty well.

Aww, E, you're breaking my heart. If you give up, you lose no matter what when maybe you might've had a chance to win. Maybe you wouldn't have passed...but you could've finished at least and been proud of yourself for stikcing through with it even thought it was rough.

If I would have stuck through with it to the end, it would have devastated my GPA.

:C That story remindes me of why I stopped coloring with markers. It flooded upstairs and they all got ruined. I'm really sorry about what happened to your drawing.

The reason you did this is so sweet! I love the smooth coloring on this. I've used pastels before, but I couldn't get them this smooth. They were more like chalk. When it comes to coloring and shading realistically, I think you've got it down pat. Your anatomy could improve. The muzzle looks like it is facing a different direction than the rest of the cat's face and the ear on the left looks thin compared to the one on the right.
