Description
Naionan (pronounced 'Nee-o-nan') is the new world for my novel project; its former name was Hyacinth. Along with the geography, I've included the names for the world's calendar for easy reference (and to fill that big old gap where the province of Vorgrath used to be).

Before the existence of Naionan, there was only elemental chaos within a sea of stars. The Life Goddess Aisling descended from the heavens and broke seven shards from Her divine soul. These shards became spirits who fused with the elemental energies, quelling the chaos and creating a sustainable world. The excess energy was confined to separate domains within the heavens and the spirits came to be known as the Divine Deities. Thereafter Goddess Aisling created mortals to reside and tend to the new world.

During the Paradise Age, Naionan was lush and whole. However the Divine Deities grew arrogant and impatient with the world's stability. They sought to resurrect chaos and instigated the wrathful Chaos Age. The lands were split into two great landmasses and almost laid to ruin. Though Goddess Aisling succeeded in sealing the corrupt Divine Deities away, their magical influence remains tethered to Naionan. This corruption has resulted in the world's gradual decline, and it is up to the purified soul of the Goddess to sever the Divine Deities' influence. Doing so will restore the elemental balance between Naionan and the heavens, thus resurrecting a new paradise.

The northern landmass is divided into two Provinces known as Demias (home of the Demian Humans and Aquarian Elves) and Ithilo (home of the Solkerian, Lucerian, and Nemorian Elves). The southern landmass is collectively known as the Province of Shevaluu (home of the Shevalic Humans). Eight Shrines serving as the magically-charged gates between Naionan and the heavenly realm are located throughout the lands; it is these Shrines that Kari Sinclair must visit in order to fulfill her task.

"The Oracle of Aisling" tells the journey of Kari Sinclair, a cleric maiden who becomes the Vessel of the dying Life Goddess Aisling. In the midst of a blank soul and phenomenal powers to control, Kari must undertake the task of purifying the world's Divine Deities: corrupt spirits who threaten to return the lands of Naionan to a realm of elemental chaos.
