Princess Celestia holds much sway over her subjects and their often impressionable minds. Whether this is good or bad would depend on who you asked...Black and sepia inks and graphite with some digital tones added post-scan.

in fact a unicorn is supposed to have cloven hooves

Nor do they have horns or wings.

But horns and wings are aditions. By giving them clovens you changed part that is characteristic for Equines. It's like you took some uniqueness from them and gave tham common cloven hooves. So now they could be pigs that look like ponies.

I'm just not a fan of cloven hooves. To me the solid hoof is what makes equines special amongst other hoofed animals. But as always your skill with the art of drawing vastly outstrips any hangups one can have with then design of the characters features.

This has to be one of the most beautiful pictures ive srrn of Princess Celestia so far.I Really like how much emphasis and detail that you gave on her butt aka flank or plot in brony talk lolz would look better with color but still nome the lless amazing pic (even though i Lovr Luna more and Derpy and pinkie pie still bafass pic man so brohoof /)

Your shading has such beautiful gradients and texture. Celestia's translucent hair is just amazing. I don't even understand how you made the background, but it looks wonderful. You never cease to amaze me EC.

The background looks a lot better here than on the original... i put a mostly unsaturated sepiatone gradient over it and then erased the ponies' silhouettes so they show through. One thing i've learned is that an image usually looks a lot more visually interesting with something other than a non-white background - even if it's just a bit of colour from toned paper. White is the absence of anything, and can be very sterile.
As for all the random things in the background, they were just me filling space with my pen and pencil...

Wow... I know this is an old discussion, but some people really don't know the mythological lore this show is built upon.
Unicorns are historically depicted with cloven hooves. It's traditional lore from long ago. Look up unicorn mythology.
Heck, even Lauren Faust's original concept art depicted Celestia with cloven hooves. That was concept canon.
Hasbro wasn't into the idea, and so the shoes were implemented.
