Born in his parent's home, Anthony Ryan Colburn was not planned. Nor was he expected. Tony was an illegitimate child.

His father, Jared Sawyer, was an old fashioned farmer who refused to accept his, technically, newborn son as anything but a kid who took up space. His harsh treatment of Tony as he grew up resulted in many behavioral issues. Tony, in many attempts to win over his father's love, often tried to prove his worth by working hard in the family's farm. When that didn't work, Tony often got into fights with other's kids from around town in other attempts to prove his strength. Of course the trouble this caused only made Tony's father treat him more harshly, which eventually ended up in a cycle of neglect and hatred.

Tony's mother, Scarlett Colburn, often took it upon herself to diffuse the unfair tension between Jared and Tony. She did what she could to take care of Tony, often trying to protect him because she knew that it was her unfaithfulness that caused this situation. Despite Jared wanting to not put effort into Tony's education, Scarlett home schooled Tony in hopes that he would be able to do what he wanted when he came of age.

When Tony's little sister was born, both Tony and Jared gave up their push and pull relationship to dote on the little girl. Tony often did all he could to protect his sister while Jared put his, as he called her, "true blood" into the local school system to give her the best chance to succeed in life. This saddened Tony for a few years, but his love for his sister always overpowered any negative feelings he harbored. In fact, taking care of his sister is what caused Tony to realize that he wanted to go into a career of protecting others, regardless if his father thought he would only be able to get a useless farm work job.

When one of the family's wheat fields caught on fire on a particularly hot day, Tony happened to be alone at home. Remembering what he was taught to do, Tony called 911 in order to get the local firefighters to put it out. Seeing the professionals in action truly lit a fire (hahah) in Tony's heart. He knew he wanted to be a part of such brave and strong heroes. When he got his opportunity to leave home for the first time, Tony had already been working for the local firedepartment for a few months. When he heard of Ivywood and it's available Firefighter positions, it only took a split second for Tony to decide where he was headed next. Anything had to be better than home, right?

- He can be quite uncharacteristically rash when provoked.
- He has speech quirks, these would be "Y'know?" And "Right?".
- He often speaks with improper grammar.

- He's pretty much a big child who trusts everybody and is super positive about a lot of things.
- Dowse (Crawdaunt) was given to Tony for his job as a Fireman.
