Copic Commission for~Vamprincess-Noa requested her Hetalia OC, Scotland: dresses up in kilt XDD (it's also my first time painting tartan as well..T^T orz... )

LOL of course we don't all have red hair and go about in kilts ~__~
But since Hetalia loves to play on stereotypes, I figured I'd take the 'best' of the Scottish stereotypes and apply it to my OC - so that meant gorgeous dark auburn red hair (instead of blond, because there are waaay too many blond haired nations in Hetalia already), green eyes, a classic full formal kilt suit... and if he could speak, he'd be rolling his R's, using Scots dialect and so on. None of the doric dialect though... It's awesome, but I can't understand a word of it sometimes *dies* I also should point out, my Scotland OC doesn't wear a full formal kilt suit all the time. I only requested Kuma draw him in one because I can't draw him in one myself LOL!!

Lol, actually very few people here in Scotland roll their R's anymore and most of what has been considered "Scots Dialect" is gone - assuming you're refferring to words like "Bairn" for a child, and "Braw" for good. Very few - if any old people speak like that these days.
He actually looks an awful lot like my partner - (if I'd let him wear a kilt...) You've created a cutie here!

Depends on where you live. If you live near the major cities like Glasgow or Edinburgh, then yeaaah.... Scots dialect is slowly fading out in those areas although the older folk I've had the pleasure of meeting still do use quite a lot of words that the younger generation don't. I think most people usually use 'slang' more than anything else, or incorporate modern, Americanized words (or ned speak too if it's neds *dies* ) Try heading further north though and you're more likely to hear words like 'bairn'and 'braw' used. Although, in saying that... words like 'Aye', 'ken', 'wheesht', 'bletherin', 'didnae', 'wisnae', 'isnae' and other words that we'd probably consider slang more than anything else are actually still considered Scots dialect. I don't live up in the North (I live near just up from Glasgow in Dumbarton), but I do still hear a lot of people, young and old, that use words like 'cannae', 'isnae' and even the occasional Scots Gaelic which is used even less than Scots English.
And since Scotland (the Hetalia character) is meant to represent the nation as a whole, and he's been around since forever, I just have him using Scots dialect since it's his native tongue. And yup, he can speak proper English of course - as most Scots can (except maybe those neds again >__> ), but I like to throw in some Scots words here and there when I write for him

The kilt and the red hair - I can get with. I can only assume the guys in kilts are celebrating whilst in madrid as thats generally when the kilt is worn.
Just the speach, I've heard very very few people talk like that, and dont get why it's such a stereotype. Even when I talk with foreign friends, they find it hard to beleive I'm scottish because I'm not like "Aw'right ,'laddie! How'dye fare th'day!!"

Entire groups of members of the Hare Krishna dressed accordingly, Hindi women in sari, shaolin monks, cosplaying groups... Want to see underdressed people? We have the parade at the Gay Pride Day. I think the only thing I haven't seen (yet) is someone dressed in a kimono. I'll give it a few years XD

... lol, I just noticed you gave him two sgian dubhs (knives), which is fine with me! It's usually only one, but Scotland (my OC) used to carry a lot of knives and daggers around in the past, so two sgian dubhs work for him too!
