I love this game! As a kid it used to give me nightmares, as an adult I think it's awesome. It's so surreal and nightmarish, and the graphics remind me of John Carpenter's The Thing.

It was crazy Nintendo let this game come to the states. Especially back them when they were censoring everything. You're shooting your way through an alien digestive system. Some of the craziest 8 bit monsters ever! Thanks again for the fave!

Not a problem man. Yeah, the game was extremely gruesome for it's time, imagine if this game was remade with modern graphics and sound? it would be even scarier! My favorite bosses are the giant torso with the bulging eyes and the thing that bursts out of it's chest and the enourmous worm that makes the creepy breathing sounds as you approach it. It's so bizarre that a game like this would be brought to the US during a time when they censored everything, but on the other hand occasionally stuff like this slipped through, like the Bionic Commando head explosion XD. What makes it cooler is the fact that even now the monsters designs still look awesome, while most everybody I know who've seen the game compares it to Life Force, the whole atmosphere and appearance of the game seems far more frightening.

Thanks! I remembered how gory and creepy this game as a kid and am still surprised Nintendo gave it the seal of approval! Saw your Bogleech article a little while ago and used the sprites as reference. Thanks for helping me with the painting. Don't know if I could have done without your post!
