that's what turned the locomotives - that way if it went into the shop (the roundhouse) to be worked on then they could back it out - then turn it around so it was facing the right way when it went back on the main line.
so there was one line that went in - they could turn the train to go into one of the bays.....and this is a narrow gauge - which was used a lot in colorado
this line went between como and breckenridge colorado over boreas pass

Great shot! I've never been to Como. It sounds very interesting. I'll have to go next time I get out west.

thanks.
it's a cool little town for sure.
but the wildest thing about it is the cemetery ! it's in a huge aspen grove, pretty wild !
it's still in use (recent) burials - but to dig the graves has to be a task - there has to be a bunch of roots from all the trees !
and there's no way anyone's gonna get a back-hoe in there......
you could probably see it on google earth - it's north of town on the road over boreas pass.

it's a cool little town
when you go - go to the mountain man gallery and talk to the lady in there about the como cemtery - very interesting stuff.
the cemetery is in a grove of aspens and i have no clue how they bury people - cause there are some recent burials - i wonder how they dig the holes cause there's no way you gonna get a back-hoe in there - plus if they dig them by hand the roots they have to go thru ???
it's a def next fall for me.

thanks
i'm not to sure about the history - the lady (ricki) the runs the "Mountain Man Gallery" there in Como is full of info ! www.mountainmangallery.com
but it's one a few roundhouses left in the country - they open it up - i think the first week-end in aug or around there.
there use to be more of the roundhouse, but it burned down in the 1935
como's a cool mining/RR town - real friedly - but small.
oh ! it was narrow gauge.
