This is my entry for *NineInjections 's and *nalkaya 's Vampire Contest.

The rules said that we had to interpret one of four sentences and represent it with a piece of one or more of their characters.

I choose Oriya (belongs to *nalkaya ) and Alcide (belongs to *NineInjections ) and this sentence: "Hidden in shadow… looking at life, streaming in the world veins."

We also had to explain why we choose the sentence and how we interpreted it on the piece...

So here I go: I thought that sentence could be interpreted in many ways, of course, but since I'm an incurable romantic, I thought of love as life. So I turned to Alcide... He had a very rough life and he didn't felt loved nor loved himself (or so I imagined). He struggles (as all vampires do, I presume) to live without a real purpose besides surviving. But then Oriya comes along... Oriya had tough moments himself but he did knew love since his brother, who loved him, saved his life by turning him into a Vampire. He loved his brother back, and he has a more... Cheerful (awful word but I can't think of a better one) vision of life. So when he met Alcide he could see how hurt he was inside and how beautiful he was, even if Alcide himself couldn't see it (he has a problem with his appearance since he has half of his body burnt and that's why he avoids contact with others). I believe Alcide felt attraction for that renewing way to see life, and gradually started to open up the possibility to see it himself that way. Thus, he fell in love with Oriya as well.

(big pause... I haven't even started to explain the piece... I get so complicated when explaining something and that's exactly why I hardly do!! )

Let's resume now that I've introduced how I see them: They're 'hidden in shadow', both literally ('cause they have to live by night for sunlight hurts them or even kills them) as metaphorically ('cause you never know yourself until you see yourself through the eyes of someone else, you have to come in to the light and show yourself to that other person, there for, they where in the shadows until they found each other). 'Looking at life' as a double appearance in this piece too: one could be that they are standing in front of each other, looking at the one who makes the world make sense, their 'life'... And the other meaning is that through the window we can see the city covered by night, which is the moment of the day they can live on, and that leads me to the last part of the phrase: 'streaming in the world's veins', which is exactly what the window shows...

I can't explain this in a better way and I'm extremely confused right now... I've made a mess of my head by trying to explain this...
