Description
So here we go. Edge's HUD for his Dragonclaw armor. Actually, it's more of a HMD(Helmet Mounted Display). I took inspiration from standard aircraft instruments, digital Primary Flight Displays, the Iron Man HUD, Master Chiefs HUD, and various other ones. The basic principal is that all electronics are housed in the helmet itself so no health bar of any kind, only basic instruments. For those of you who don't know about avionics and even for those of you who do, here's all of the things that are packed inside and what they do.From top to bottom.
Top
Left Side: Power & Comms Power levels are indicated by the battery icon. As power levels drop the bars will slowly become transparent until it reaches the orange bars; where it will begin to flash, indicating the helmets integrated battery needs to be recharged. Communications information take up the remainder of the space. Signal strength and exact frequency are displayed above the preset channel indicator. There are four channels that correspond to a highlighted number indicator these are: Team, Rob, Rex, Blake and a 5th that is not shown for HQ.
Right Side: Speed Overall speed indicator measured in knots. Speed is displayed both numerically and on an at-a-glance speed bar.
Middle
Left Side: Vertical Speed The Vertical Speed Indicator, abbreviated VSI, shows ascent and descent speed in feet per second. Orange arrows indicate direction along with a scrolling tape.
Center: Reticule The center reticule indicates the artificial horizon. To either side are semi circular markers to note angle of roll. Above and below are markers for pitch angle.
Right Side: Altimeter The Altimeter, abbreviated as ALT, shows altitude in feet above sea level. Orange impact warning indicators flash when close to the ground while flying and turn off when on the ground.
Bottom
Center: Compass & Heading The compass is calibrated to true north and not magnetic north. Heading is displayed below the dial in degrees and relative cardinal points.
Well there it is, all of the little instruments and readouts it's got. I was going to make an actual background of a scene from Dragonclaw but I just couldn't do it. If any one wants to make a background feel free to make one and send it to me, I still have the raw file and could edit it in. If I get a lot of people sending them in, I might make a sort of collage or something. Let me know in the comments If you're interested or have any questions.

well, it isn't the first thing I've designed, but it is the first one I've finished. Β Also, it isn't that complicated once you've been doing it for nearly a year.

Too true, I find writing a few thousand words easy but struggle with other things I don't normally do.

just start making little sketches if you want to make a HUD or interface. Β I have about three to four pages of sketches and stuff for this one alone and an entire folder on my computer filled with other interfaces and stuff.

The only problem with this one is that for gaming, I would add a lot more stuff like a mini map and things like that.

always a useful feature. and the infra-red gives you vision through walls, allowing scouting from a safe distance.

Actually Edge already has slight infrared vision but for other drakes, I guess they might need it.

Thanks, there's probably a few things missing but overall, I got everything I wanted in to it. Probably gonna add stuff to a beta version of it if I ever get around to it.

Nice display format. Might be neat to have some alternate color display lines to highlight energy fields such as static or magnetic fields, shielded structures, dampening / cloaking fields, surge or e.m.p. zones. Where's Blake when we need em' ?

Thanks I had fun moving all of the stuff around to avoid information overload. And the color scheme is deceivingly simple; Blue for marking and background, white for information, and orange for warnings and important information. And I guess I'll need to consult Blake on adding stuff to the 2.0 helmet.
