Description
An acrylic painting of a lion. I was happy with how the head turned out, but no matter how many times I redid the body, I couldn't get it to turn out well. I ended up getting to frustrated to work on it any more.Related content

Very nice. The right ear looks a bit off, but the lioness looks very good otherwise. Now, I'm curious, what was it about the body that frustrated you?

I can't seem to get the body to look good. It looks so flat and unrealistic entirely. I tried doing it more detailed and it looked horrible. I just can't seem to be happy with it.

I see. Maybe the way you just need to change the shading and light values to give it a bit more depth. I don't know if that will help, but it's worth trying, don't you think?

Yea, I'm just not sure how to go about it. I've tried changing it at least 4 times now. This is the best it's looked so far, but I can't quite figure out how to fix it further. Every time I change it, I end up just as unhappy with what I did.

I'd have to see an image of your lion's body to see what makes it look so flat. Maybe I could help solve your problem.

This was my reference: sta.sh/027rg5r8cdzh
The more I look at it, I can see the mistakes, but I just couldn't seem to actually fix those mistakes. I think the main thing is that I just rushed it and didn't take enough time to really work on it.

I see. Also, I realize I was mistaken in my belief that the ear looked out of place after looking at the photo reference.

It still does look a bit off. I think I definitely need to work on my contrast.

I'm still going through that same problem too. Shading, contrast and light values are the most difficult thing I've ever had to work on.

There's a good reason why I tend to stick to photography. Way easier for me to get the details just right, haha!
