there was also a chrome filter there... but this levitathan is a bad example, the leviathan from the comic 2 is revised version and includes 10x more steps

you must have had to fade it first if you used the chrome filter, it creates some dramatic changes.
And in comic 2 I can cleary see how you used the chrome filter, I would have never thought to use it like that.
Did you make the leviathan kind of like this:
sketch out body with brushes, (with shape dynamics)
Apply some kind of mosaic filter, but then fade it, (the area near testament looks a little differant ...)
Plastic wrap filter
then it looks like you carefully sketched out the head, then added shading using dodge and burn. I'm guessing you appyied the plastic wrap filter a couple of times. Though you masked it some, and reduced the opacity. (on multiple layers)
Chrome filter on the teeth, more masking
Duplicated body shape, and set to vivid light. Then you made a motion blur/smudge, (I can see a glow around the basic shape).
It looks like you got some real water images somewhere in there, but you put plastic wrap on that too.
Also you added some ice effect around testament, by either using something like this:

Or some real ice. Also you could have painted around testiment and add some shading with Dodge/burn. And apply the plastic wrap again.
Then your final step would be to turn most of the layers to hard light, this makes the ice more realistic and allow some texture to show through.

uh, no, but try it and let me know 
1) your try way to hard
2) being a knwo it allis cool, but only when your information or assumption is RIGHT
3) you got a long way to go and each assumption you make pushes you back 10 fold
4) stop looking for a short cut, there IS no short cut
5) if you had any pride inyoru work, then.. well you wouldtn be doign this
6) if you wanna learn heres a thoguh be humble (imbacile...)
7) nothign is concrete, everythign i do except fire, is off the top of my head, there ARE no tutorials, both leviathans were made differently
each timeyou do sumtin you try to rememebr what works and what doesn, and each timeyou do it, you change it abit, tell you this much, at the rate yoru at you woudlnt even be able to understand how to get fire to be real enough.

do you do any video work mate? these pics you do would look awesome, I think shake or combustion can do some of this stuff and composite it nicely
