Description
Here's a new commission I drew for Akira500 featuring Tea Gardner from the Yugioh series.Looks like she has found a new and previously unknown Millenium Item; shaped like an hourglass. I wonder what ever could go wrong?
Also, tried a new more cell-based type of shading for this sequence, I think it allows for an interesting look and adds nicely to Tea's anime-style. Would love to hear your thoughts on the matter or any feedback you guys would be willing to share!

Hello! I'm here from ProjectComment .
First off, the lines and cel shading are really neat and clear, great job on that! I also like her astonished facial expression.
However that brings me to my first critique point: the rest of her pose looks very stiff, and doesn't match the facial expression. Looking more closely, I can see you have the beginnings of a great pose - the way she's holding the hourglass away from herself, and how her shoulders are slightly different in height. But you could definitely push it a whole lot further. My suggestions would be to hold the hourglass higher or further away, perhaps lean back from it. Also the legs and feet should be angled towards it rather than towards the viewer - the hips are already facing there! Here's a tutorial that might help you with making your poses less stiff: maggiefromspace.deviantart.com…
Something else I find a bit puzzlin is her hair. I see she has bangs but the side parts of her hair start a bit higher than that, and I have to wonder which direction the hair between these two portions goes. I do like how you did the outline and the shading for the hair though, it really works well in this style!
Some minor anatomy notes: her legs seem a bit long to me, even for a manga style; her feet are a bit wide; her kneecaps are definitely protruding too much; and on her right hand, the space between her middle and ring finger is a bit too pointed at the bottom (though I only noticed that because the space between the index and middle finger is so well done, in contrast!)
The rest of the anatomy looks really well done though, especially the overall shape of her hands (hands are hard, great job!) and her chest area, which a lot of artists struggle with!
As a final note, I feel this piece could really profit from a more defined background, but it's of course up to you whether you want to do that c:
I hope some of this was helpful. Keep it up!

Hello, I'm from ProjectComment .
This looks very well done. The comic looks nicely shaded, and everything is nice and neat- line work wise. The line work on this is very well done- you’ve gone through a lot of trouble adding in details with it, along with shading in the various details. The coloring and shading is not flat- you’ve gone the anime route were everything doesn’t smudge into each other. The hair looks nice- it’s dark and we get that feel from it. Her skin is rather shiny, showing that it’s oily and rather reflective. The hourglass is also done well- especially since it’s a material that’s metallic and you’ve done well on that part. Metallic surfaces can be tricky to do- but you’ve overcome that part.
For a simple one panel comic per page, the bubble and text is rather neatly done, and it’s easily readable. The words aren’t jumbled together, and they’re in a font that we can easily read. I like how you’ve used proper grammar and spacing between them, as this can often times be an oversight by others who work on comics like these. The continuing works of this particular sequence is also listed in your description which helps people follow the image from start to finish.
The background is nice. The colors used in this are rather not too deep in color, but light enough to help the character in the foreground pop out. You do have the shadow a bit darker in shade to show that she’s actually standing on it. However I feel that the angel used here is fine, but where it’s positioned in relation to the character might be a bit off. It could just be me, but I feel it should be a bit lower, since we’re not seeing more of Tea’s head. But it’s something that isn’t noticeable by much, and it appears that you’ve gotten away with it.
Overall I do like the shading you’ve used on the character- reminds me of the shading used in the anime. The wrinkles in her clothes fit well with her posture, and her posture doesn’t look too stiff. Her fingers and anatomy seem to fit the type of figure that this particular character had, and overall the way they’re holding the object looks like they’re holding it, rather then it being awkward. Great job on that part.
Keep up the great work.
