In the Shadow the Hedgehog game, I believe Eggman himself, when Shadow was fighting the final boss, admitted that he hadn't recreated Shadow as a robot like he previously claimed, but had found him and revived him after the events of SA2. Seems like a rather big piece of information for just a comment among comments by various characters, but still, with the cannon culprit having mentioned the truth himself, I think that ought to settle things.

No.....He's not.
In sonic heroes, he was released from a SINGLE pod in an empty room by rouge, only thing was E-123-OMEGA was in there too.
At the END of the game, Shadow splits from the team leaving Rouge and Omega, and they enter a room full of Shadow Clones in multiple pods.
THE SHADOW WE KNOW WAS IN ONE ROOM. Thousands of other 'droids were in one BIG room.

Here are a few passages of OFFICIAL information straight from the people who wrote for sega:
"After Super Shadow plummeted into the atmosphere following the battle against Finalhazard at the end of Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow was missing and presumed dead. However, the black hedgehog was in fact still alive (albeit grievously wounded from his fall), and later recovered by Eggman, who (presumably) placed him in a stasis pod to keep him alive. In the time between Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes, Eggman studies Shadow and uses him as a template for a new line of unusually-biological-looking combat robots. A Shadow Android is first spotted during a cutscene after the destruction of the Egg Albatross in Bullet Station.
During Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow Androids appear as foes in-level, first spotted in shafts in Iron Jungle. They are pernicious enemies, with high armour and homing missiles. Eggman devotes considerable effort during the game into convincing the player-character Shadow that the original Shadow really is dead, and that the current Shadow is just one of his androids. Presumably trying to secure Shadow's loyalty, the Doctor's plan backfires spectacularly in the Lava Shelter endings of the game, with Shadow resolving (and succeeding!) to kill off his creator and establish a new robotic empire with Omega. I'm gonna resume it this way:
In SA2 Shadow falled to Earth but was rescued by Eggman robots and was put in a stasis pod, Eggman then analized him and created the Shadow Androids. The Shadow that Rouge freed is the real one, which Eggman isolated from the Androids to make more experiments with him, also the fact that Omega was in the same room as him is because he was programmed to stop Shadow if he escaped and not to mention also the fact that Shadow recognized Sonic and Rouge proves he's the real one.
Eggman confussed Shadow as one of his robot replicas because he sa him with them and Shadow started to believe he was one of them because he didn't remembered his past, but at the end it was confirmed he wasn't one of them.
Oh, and if you mention that you e-mailed SEGA, I have to tell you that Sonic is a japanese franchise and only japanese SEGA are the ones able to decide what's cannon and what's not, so american SEGA opinion doesn't counts, and they say that Shadow is not a robot.

I literally give you official information of the people who created the story and the characters. Information from the writer from sab2 Shiro Maekawa, and the scenario writer Takashi Iizuka and producer Yuji Naka of the shadow the hedgehog game themselves and still doubt it? You would doubt the people who created the character and the story?

The reason they did that article was so they could move away from fan interpretation and unintended plotholes and move forward.

THANK YOU!!! So many people say he's a robot, even AFTER Shadow the Hedgehog. It annoys me to no end. Eggman even says in the game, depending on how long you took on the battle, that he SAVED Shadow from death and that he wasn't an android!^^
