They're making movies?!?! Why didn't anyone freaking tell me?!!
Although, I must admit.. never have I come across such ridiculous casting.. I nearly laughed myself sick. My poor mother had no idea why I was so hysterical.
So this is my response - created just because I couldnt even begin to picture any of the actors in their roles... and, yes, I know Vegeta isn't in the first movie (I don't understand that... how will there be a plot? Also: where the hell is Krillin?!) but the Director has said he wants Joaquin Phoenix for Vegeta in the second one (him or Jonathan Rhys Meyers - nuuuu! I'm baised tho... the prospect of my favourite actor playing one of my favourite characters was too squeal-inducing)..
Yup.. so, left to right it goes:
James Marsters as Piccolo (lol wtf?)
Jamie Chung as Chichi (ok, I'll give them that one)
Justin Chatwin as Goku (... I don't get it, he looks too meek.. not to mention caucasian)
Joaquin Phoenix as Vegeta (... lol
)Emmy Rossum as Bulma (she's a little too doe-eyed for me.. Bulma should be someone who screams spunk.. Emmy sort of just.. sings)
K. I'm done now. I'll just go back to laughing at them all. Oooh lord.. they must have been on some good shit when they casted that puppy!

James marsters was a good piccolo, he just had very little screentime and little to no character development. Chatwin was just.... white, brown-haired and in need of a few extra acting lessons.
I think Jaoquin Pheonix could definitely pull off a decent Vegeta, at least he has the look (from the pics i've seen of him)

OMG!! I totally agree with you! I love Piccolo and I was so pissed off when I saw that James Marsters was playing him!!! (There were tears...) but I supposed that he would be alright for Piccolo's father, because of the gaunt face. I agree with you and I also don't like who Yamcha is being played by either! Grrr!! And where are Tenshinhan and Chaozu?! Argh!

I saw the trailer not so long ago.. and it doesn't look remotely like Dragonball... so I'm still clinging to the vain hope that maybe it will be an alright movie within its own right.... I'm doubtful, though :C

i saw the preview for the DBZ movie and........it was horrific.. everything is incorrect. Bulma knew karate >> piccolo is a gold color and a lizard and don't get me started with the ozaroo form >> another lizard

God I saw the preview recently, too.. I wuz like 'what the hell is this?? Tokyo drift?' ... I cling, CLING to the hope that, even though it's nothing like the manga or anime, maybe it'll be cool within its own right.... but I am doubtful :c

I would have told you about the movie if I had known that you DIDN'T know. But news of there being more than 1 movie planned is umm...NEWS to me. I'm actually really excited. I don't care about the casting. I think they'll be able to do more with this movie now than they would have been able to do in the 90s (though my brother tells me there WAS a movie made in the 90s about a young Goku). 90s superhero movies sucked for the most part for looking like rejected episodes of the Power-rangers.

I'm excited for the prospect of more movies simply becuz of Vegeta - whether he be played by Phoenix or not. I've always loved him more than I should.
Yeah, regardless of the casting I'm excited too. Hopefully it's good. And 90s superhero movies were so terrible lol.. but it was nice that they didn't seem so at the time. How so much obviously synthetic material could have ever looked good I do not know though..

If I'd known they were making one I'd have been obsessing too.. and normally I do know about films from when their pre-production is a mere rumour, so I was so surprised by this lol.
I still can't take the casting seriously.. Unless Joaquin does do Vegeta... that would pretty much make my year

Chichi - ...Jamie Chung works just fine, you're right
Gohan - I don't know. Mabey Cole Sprouse?
Krillin - ???
Piccolo - David Draiman (from Disturbed)
Vegeta - some random male Eurasian actor
Bulma - Jessica Simpson
Master Roshii - I guess Quentin Tarantino since Pat Morita is dead. Quentin would be funny as a perverted old man like he was a blind street preacher from Little Nicky
Freeza - either Rosalinda Celentano or Marilyn Manson (Rosalinda is a woman who played a transsexual Satan in Passion of the Christ. She'd be great playing as Freeza for the movie)
Nappa - Stone Cold Steve Austin
Raditz - Ozzy Osbourne
But with it's current cast like this, I don't know how that movie will be sucessful.

Jackie Chan is too old.
Cole Sprouse is too old to be Gohan in the Saiyan Saga.
David Draiman couldn't play an old King Piccolo.
Jessica Simpson... Just no.
Quentin Tarantino, not exactly the most 'old Asian man' looking actor around.
Ozzy Osbourne is in his hundreds, at least.

I couldn't agree more with the people you've put for Piccolo, Master Roshii (lol, Quentin would do that so well), Freeza and Nappa (lol! Ozzy Osbourne as Raditz.. that's so funny in my head)..
I think Jackie Chan would be too old for Goku.. but I do think Goku should have been Asian.
Oh well.. like I said hopefully it will somehow just work.

And live-action Sailor Moon? I think you're right about the Apocolypse... or the Westen film industry is finally running out of books to adapt and crappy sequels to make and they're starting on anime.

Sixth Sense wasn't that horrible... but then again The Villiage was sooooooooooooooooooooo disapointing.
Hollywood will never stop! They will justkep remaking film. (At least Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wasn't a live action movie.. but it still bombed. And Transformres was a good movie)
