The Story of Theirry Prouix

So, Thierry has been mentioned twice in the story (no, really, he has.. he was the man Farrere was talking to about potatoes in chapter four, and Farrere told Cam about him in chapter six) ... but up until recently all I had him pinned as was Farrere's extremely-important mentor figure.

This shallowness displeased me, so I've finally gotten around to developing him, seeing as he is supposed to be extremely important.

And he is. His story goes that he was hired as the LeAmi's chef when the family first moved to the Mainland. Throughout Farrere's younger years Theirry was always in the background as a source of kindness and positivity, and then around the age of ten Farrere grew very close to him.

As mentors are wont to do, he taught Farrere about life (and cooking). He was there to pick up the pieces whenever Phil and Constance weren't, and he did so with an easy smile, rapier wit and the whole-hearted gusto only an Enuin *cough* Frenchman possesses.

Regis dismissed Thierry once he'd sent Farrere to boarding school in Nielle when Farrere was thirteen. He'd drawn his own conclusions about Thierry's intentions towards his son. Regis told Farrere the reason for Thierry's dismissal was that Farrere needed to learn his place in society and refrain from getting so close to Imps, but Thierry plans to tell him the truth when he feels Farrere is ready.

Farrere kept in touch with Thierry best he could past his father's scrutiny. When Farrere was eighteen he bought a restaurant in Petit Enoir, the Enuin district, and employed Thierry as the head-chef, all without Regis suspecting a thing.

Thierry will play a small part in the story to come, but you'll see the most of him in flashbacks. Why, there shall even be one in chapter ten c:
