Description

Almost at the end of the trail there is this gorgeous pond which is fed by Iceberg Lake, which is tucked in the middle of the crater-shaped mountain line in the back. Ominous clouds were rolling in, it was raining on at off, some sleet as well. It's interesting how different one can feel about weather like this. Right now when I look outside it's just miserable. However, in the mountains it's completely different. A scenery like this works best in these conditions imho.

The panorama has been stitched in Photoshop Elements 14 from 7x RAW (vertical), handheld.

Location: Iceberg Lake Trail, Glacier National Park, Montana, USA

More of a glacial cirque, surrounded by aretes. Sorry, geology prof here,, habituated to lecture. But I remember being there long ago!

Damn, I remember last time I posted a picture from here someone corrected me as well. I know it's not a caldera and back then I called it a "caldera-like mountain-depression". Then someone told me there is a word for that: cirque.^^ I said I'll keep that in mind and, well, I didn't... Here's the picture I'm talking about:

Hehe, sorry for being such a stickler. I keep defaulting back to the old classroom, and correcting students. Old habits don't die, you know. Lovely picture, though! I spent lots of time around these mountains,, wayyyyyy back when. San Juan Mountains too, which do have ancient calderas.
