Glad to hear you liked it! Studying from life has probably been the most integral part for me (drawing from mode, painting outside etc) as without that knowledge one can't paint realistic scenes from imagination. Coupling that with studying how really good people did things (old masters such as Sargent) and of course a lot of little sketches and complete paintings from imagination is probably it in the nutshell.

Hey! He was originally based on a character from the game Bloodborne. A stalwart figure stuck forever in a dreamstate, yearning to be free. I decided to make the painting a bit more standalone in the end, but perhaps it still is an old man regretting how he lived his life.

This reminds me of Gherman from Bloodborne. He is old, white hair, and you fight him in a graveyard full of white flowers.
