Description

Done for 's Eon Exchange. This is 's character Blaze. I probably did the highlights redder than I should have, but I wanted to make sure it was obvious (I have a habit of being too light/subtle), and with a name like Blaze...

Anyway, I apparently decided to throw myself several challenges with this one.
First off: actually putting in a background. I'm not proud of those trees way back there (I got impatient with it), but otherwise I think it's okay.
Second: angle. It wasn't until I drew the pose that I realized it was a kinda low angle, which led to me spending half an hour trying to take into account and trying to figure out where the horizon line was going, and then how to portray the rest of the forest, hence the blades of grass in the front there.
Third: the lighting. I guess since I knew I was going to put Blaze in a forest I thought "oh I'll do that dappled lighting effect since the sunlight's streaming through the trees and it'll be so pretty..." Yeah, that's harder than in looks, so if the lighting looks weird, that's why. If anything, I think I should have made the light spots more distinct on Blaze, but oh well.
I'd like to think my color-pencil skill has gotten better though. Until recently I would never have thought to pick up a purple colored pencil when drawing an eevee, or a red one when coloring grass.
All that said, I should do this kind of thing more often. Hope you like it, =Gingerblazee !
