QUIRK

He has the abilities of an Axolotl. For survival reasons he can extend gills and a tail, to breath and move underwater.
This quirk allows him to move very quickly underwater. It also means he's not the fastest one on land though.
He can retract these limbs, whenever he wants or doesn't need them.
When you cut of off any of his limbs, he can grow them back every time. Depending on how bad the injury is, he needs a certain amount of time to grow them back (can take seconds but also hours or days).
When you cut off e.g. his arm, it grows back, but he can also attach the cut off arm back to his body, and it will become attached.
This will only last for minutes though, then every limbs that are not anatomical correct, will die and he has to rip them off again.

Ryota mostly doesn't make the first move in a fight but observes his opponent. He has not a physical strong quirk,
however he trains a lot, so he has quite strong arms, so he's got at protecting himself from physical attacks.

PERSONALITY

When you look at him, you'd think he's a boy with lots of confidence. He always seems happy, laughs a lot and comes across strong. This wasn't always the case though, and it is still is not fully the case. Actually he's quite insecure about himself since he got bullied a lot when he was younger. People made fun of him, since he was tiny as a kid (he's still not exactly tall, but it's getting better) and looked like a girl because of his pink Axolotl Traits. This is why he became quite insecure about his appearance.

With the years he's taught himself that he has to be more confident and strong, because it was his goal to become a hero. The more he pretended to be the happy, positive guy, he actually became it more and more. But still, he is quite uncertain about himself sometimes. He tries to laugh it off as much as he can.

He likes to make people laugh, therefor he likes to tell jokes, even though most of them are really bad. He has a weird sense of humour.

Ryota likes being around other people and usually has no problems talking. But when he's talking to girls, he can become quite awkward, especially in the beginning, or when he's talking to someone he has a crush on.

Overall he has a good heart and a strong hero sense. He wants to make the world a better place.

BACKGROUND

Ryota grew up in a loving and caring family. His father, Atomu, was a full time pro hero. His mother, Himeko, used to be one as well, but she retired after Ryota was born, to take care of him and his little sister, who was born 2 years after Ryota. His childhood wasn't easy, since he got bullied a lot when he came into Primary School. Other kids called him names, made fun of his looks, his pale skin, because of how short he was and of course his quirk. 'You look like a girl, with that pink tale!' was something that he heard almost every day. It was awful, but his family always gave him strength.
He could especially learn something, from his little sister, Keiko, who's really tough and brav and knows how to defend herself.
As Ryota got older, he learned to see things differently. When he got to middle school, he told himself, so start over. He told himself, to become more confident and strong. It was his dream to become a pro hero like his father, who gave him a really tough and hard training for years. It wasn't easy, but that's what brought them even closer together.
That's why it hit Ryota even harder, when his father didn't come back from work one day. The news reached the family on the same day. Ryota came home from middle school, when he found her mother on the couch, crying, together with his little sister, who tried to comfort her. Atomu got involved with small group of villains. He didn't make it. Ryota felt numb. He didn't cry though. He couldn't cry in front of his family. He needs to be the man in the family now, the strong one. He couldn't appear as weak now. He promised his father to never be weak again but to become strong instead. He has to keep that promise.
It surely wasn't healthy to suppress all the feelings he had about his father. It would surely hit him one day. But since then Ryota tried even harder.
He was still far away from the person, he aspires to be. Though, he's become more confident now and tries to be as positive as he can and make other people happy. Even though he still has problems talking to girls, in the beginning at least.
He still tries his best.

Kirishima Eijirou Best Friend | Kirishima was his first friend at UA, because they already fought together against some 'villain machines' during their entrance exams where they already got each other's backs. He brings out the best of him and teaches him how to be more manly.

Bakugou Katuski Complicated | At first he frightened Ryota and he could't believe Bakugou actually wants to become a hero. Because of Kirishima, he got more in contact with him and learned how to deal with him. Now he sometimes even teases Bakugoum but he wouldn't count him as a friend.

Midoriya Izuku Friend | He admires Midoriya a lot. They work well together.

Tenshouin Arisa Close Friend | Both of them are awkward at the beginning, but that stopped quite quickly because they noticed that they're actually quite similar. He thinks, she's actually the most beautiful girl he's ever seen.

Koujiro Shion Close Rival-Friend | At first they didn't like each other because they were jealous over each other's good relationship with Arisa. They wear fighting about, who's getting more attention from her. Once they realised how stupid they act and that both of them secretly admire each other, they start becoming friends. Really good friends actually. They still tease each other though.

Hogori Meru Friend | They start off disliking each other a lot since both of them are quite stubborn and couldn't be more different. At least that's what you think at first. After they were forced to work together one day, they realise they're actually not that different at all. Since that day they start respecting each other and even become friends.

Kabosen Atsui Friend | Ryota just enjoys being around him. Even though he's mischievous, he's a really good guy. He can learn a lot from Atsui.

Kotengu Hotari Close Friend | Ryota pretended to drown in a lake and Hotari saved him, but it was actually a prank, which was supposed to be funny but Hotari hated him for years for it. In school they became friends quite quickly though since Ryota apologized to her like 100 times. They're really protective over each other.

Yaoyorozu Momo Neutral | Has lots of respect for her, but could never ever talk to her properly, because he's intimidated by her whole presence.

Kaminari Denki Close friend | Loves to good around with him and can really be his self around Kaminari

Todoroki Shouto Neutral | Ryota admires him but doesn't like his attitude. He's also jealous over how good-looking Shouto is
