Acerbus - the Latin word for "darkness" (at least as far as I know)

The name Acerbus was given to this planet for how dark it is on the habitable part of this world. It is phase locked to the star it orbits (meaning one side of the planet always faces the sun thanks to the speed of its rotation along with how fast it revolves around the star). With how close it is the said star, the only habitable part of the planet is the dark region facing away from the star. The planet was created from a dark nova cloud in space that was absorbed into a crystal (which may be shown in a later drawing), then released at a high enough power to travel the galaxy a decent length before stopping to form a planet. The people on this world are descendant of colonists from various other planets who came here to escape the eyes of other, more powerful, civilizations. The settlers were corrupted, however, by the dark energy that resides on the planets surface. The people eventually became violent and would travel to other neighboring planets to cause harm. Fearing what might come of this increasingly hostile nature, another civilization (not shown yet) decided to step in and do something about it. 95% of the population on this planet now lives in the dimly lit region that is produced by the huge light source provided by a people from a different world. The people that live in this region have reverted back to their old calm nature thanks to the unique light source structure. The other 5% lives in the darkness where they retain their old ways of behavior.
