Description
This is to go with my WIP Green Ranger cosplay. It's a resin cast of a toy/prop morpher, so it doesn't have electronics or open up (those can go upwards of $300). I bought it from "buzzs_room_stuff" on ebay. Decals I got from "blinddrummer15" on Rangerboard. I opted for a hybrid of the tv show (red "Power Rangers" ring) and movie (color coordinated bolts). I figure it'll be my prop for both cosplays if I eventually make both a tv and a movie version, and it's my prop, so I can do what I want, lol.COSTS:
- Resin cast of morpher, holster, and coin from buzzs_room_stuff on ebay = $33 shipped
- Decals from blinddrummer15 on Rangerboard = $10 shipped
- black, gold, gloss clearcoat spraypaint, and red acrylic for the buttons = free, already on-hand

Um I'm thinking of ordering from buzz can you give me a step by step of how you did this?

It's fairly simple:
1. When you get the casts, they might have some small imperfections. Pin sized holes, nicks in the resin, etc. Fill these with spot filler (find it in the auto body section) and sand down until smooth.
2. Once the imperfections are gone, sand it with some fine sandpaper to give the resin a little bit of grit. This way, the primer and paint will stick better.
3. Prime the casts, allowing the primer to dry completely. Once dry, you should be able to see any other imperfections. Fix those, and repeat the priming until it's perfect.
4. Once the casts are perfect and primed, use your paint. I used multiple thin coats, versus one heavy coat, to reduce running. I painted the back and holster with flat black, and the front with metallic gold. Don't worry about the lack of gloss on the black, you'll clear coat it later.
5. After you've covered all the resin in black and gold, spray them with multiple coats of gloss clear coat. Make sure to let it dry completely between coats.
6. Once the morpher is dry, you can add the decals. Order them from blinddrummer15 on Rangerboard. I got the MMPR TV ring, with green bolts, but you can get whatever you want. Decal sets are $10.
I haven't glued it together yet. This is because I'm debating drilling and wiring some electronics into it. We will see.
