Description From Mass Effect, Commander Shepard and Garrus Vakarian.

This one is charcoal again. Thought about giving Shep some underwear, but I felt it might distract from the contrast between their bodies.

Oh, and no - they aren't kissing. Not really anyway. More like sharing a tender moment.

What an odd thing to say... Be sure to comment in two months because I'm curious what exactly you are talking about...

As in two months before I made that original comment I was 17 and couldn't see the picture because of the mature content filter :]

Mission accomplished.

I'm glad you like it! With so much time to kill until ME3, there are many more drawings on the way.

This is just amazing. Let me just say I'm a huge Garrus fan and I love to see fan art, but most of the sexy variety I shy away from. Not to say that it's gross or inappropriate or anything, I just have a hard time taking some of it very seriously. This is just too stunning to be lumped into that category for me. It's incredibly well done and tasteful and I am just really marveling at the detail especially in the body textures of both Garrus and Shepard. Thank you so much for sharing and making a believer out of me!

There is a very fine line between sexy and creepy... and I will be the first to admit I probably have several half finished drawings that cross that line. I'm trying not to make these drawings just about the sex, so I'm glad I've succeeded.

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad I could change your mind!

btw, are you aware that this has been included on rule34. paheal. net?

That sounds bad... what is that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

theAirie In reply to efleck [2011-07-20 20:39:02 +0000 UTC]

basically an image sharing site for hentai fan art. as in rule 34 of the internet means "if it exists - there is porn of it".

they don't claim your work, just share it.

if that makes you in any way uncomfortable you can contact them and ask them to take your work down. they're very respectful towards original artists.

Oh ok, meh... I can handle that. I'd heard of rule 34, but not the site... though while you were replying I was googling it. lol

Thanks for the heads up!

Wow! Again, you are exceeding yourself, keep on the great job. It is not cheap in any way and it is the highest quality classical fan art on DA. You should probably share that with Bioware

efleck In reply to Zla-tuska [2011-07-20 14:11:59 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Once again, very high praise, though I'm not sure I deserve it.

Sharing it with Bioware is an interesting idea, though I'm not sure how I would do that lol.

Zla-tuska In reply to efleck [2011-07-20 19:21:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you do definitely deserve it, trust me I do not know, did that official Bioware fan art competition end already? Do not worry, there will be an opportunity...if some art regarding intimate romancing should be made public it is yours Btw, you inspired me to do one charcoal piece myself, it has nothing to do with anything, but it is true

efleck In reply to Zla-tuska [2011-07-20 20:09:56 +0000 UTC]

I did miss that bioware fanart thing - which is sad for me because I have several errr... clothed projects on the go. Ah well.

I'm glad I inspired you to work with charcoal! It can be a pain, but part of the beauty of it is in the accidents. Not having an undo button can actually add to a drawing, I think.

I'm glad to see some people out there still draw traditionally and include a lot of detail in it, it's not something I see much. Is this charcoal?

I love this drawing though, it's so sweet. Seeing art of them that isn't like "oh baby!" sexy is really refreshing. I really love the contrast of their bodies.

I don't have a tablet, plus my real job consists of a lot of graphic design and programming, so working with a piece of paper and charcoal really appeals to me.

Thanks for the feedback!

Nyhtmare In reply to efleck [2011-07-20 14:28:26 +0000 UTC]

Sorry to keep asking questions, but what kind of scanner do you have? Mine simply murders anything I scan, especially if I've taken the time to colour it.

And no problem, thanks for replying! :]

efleck In reply to Nyhtmare [2011-07-20 14:35:38 +0000 UTC]

Naw, I like questions.

I actually I use two... one is at home and it's a lexar two in one printer that I got for free (I used it to scan Shepard and Garrus part 2). This one I scanned at work with an hp office jet pro 8500 two in one. I usually bring the scan into photoshop so that I can give the scanned image the same lights and darks as the original, but there is always some detail that gets lost.

I don't recommend scanning at work... I left the original of this image in the scanner all night and had terrible thoughts about what would happen if one of my coworkers found it. I have no idea how I'd explain that.

Nyhtmare In reply to efleck [2011-07-20 15:48:33 +0000 UTC]

I have a 2 in one Cannon at home I believe. I suppose I could work in photoshop to change my white paper back to white (my scanner turns it this graybrown colour) and my lines to black instead of gray. I just finished my photoshop class a few weeks ago and I can't remember how I'll do that, argh! The only downside is I'll have to do it here at the college and people always just waltz into the room.

Oh god... Good thing it wasn't discovered! That would make for a lot of awkwardness for a very long time.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

efleck In reply to Nyhtmare [2011-07-20 20:04:59 +0000 UTC]

I usually tweak the levels, that lets me match up the blacks. You can probably get a free image editor that will allow you to adjust the contrast. Your scanner should also have a way to lighten the image.

I think picasa is a free image editor. Maybe try that?

And yeah, having something like this image found by anyone, especially at work, would make my life awkward as hell. lol.

Ok, just seeing how beautiful your Garrus work is, I really need to create a Shepard for him even if I never write a story about the two, just so I can picture them in tender moments such as this.

Amazing, truly amazing work!

You never cease to amaze me just how beautiful your artwork is. I give this two gigantic thumbs up. And even if there is someone against xenophelia, I know I love it and so do many many others. Garrus FTW!

efleck In reply to RebelATS [2011-07-19 14:58:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! And yes, Garrus FTW! lol.

I'm waiting for the xenophobia brigade to show up at my door, but I figure I'm not really breaking any of the rules dA has laid out. I'm really trying to draw them tastefully, so that it's not about the sex, it's about the love and the difficulties they face as a couple and in general... ah I'm not going to drone on about it. I'm glad you like it!
