Don't know how to title this, but anyway a drawing of Kirby characters that asked for help at the beginning of the game.

Despite all jokes, only a third of these encounters lead to betrayal. Just so happens that the traitors come from very well known mainline games. I'm sure very few know of Mr. Star and/or Kirby's Super Star Stacker, a game that never left Japan (thought there is a fan translation).

I'm always in for some speculation. So regarding Elfilin's role in the story. Well, from recent games, I guess it's fair to expect some for of betrayal, or a shift between good and evil.

From the two trailers and screenshot, this is what is known: 1) Elfilin is met early in the game. He could be the first character Kirby (and may be Bandana Dee) encounter, or he could show up after rescuing a few Waddle Dees. We only know he is around by the time Kirby faces Gorimondo. 2) He is a companion type character the shows up during cutscenes and follows the pink puff in Waddle Dee Town. 3) Kirby finds a decoy of the big-eared fellow at some point. This possibly indicates that Elfilin would get separated from Kirby and either rescued after a while or stay missing until reaching the final boss.

That last point of separation can lead to so many storylines. May be the Kirby has to rescue Elfilin and that's it. Or Elfilin is the bad guy and is leading the jolly fellow somewhere (may be a source of power); with the Beast Pack working under him or trying to stop him (thought it seems unlikely because why would they be kidnapping Waddle Dees?)

I like the idea of Elfilin being part of the Beast Pack. Specifically, the scenario in which he was sent in to befriend Kirby and eventually betray him; but after hanging out in Waddle Dee Town, he grows to like the round hero and is unable to double-cross him. Instead he leaves. The Beast Pack either captures him or make Kirby think they did. Near the end, Elfilin would attempt to stop the leader of the BP and Kirby from fighting. The final boss could either be the said leader, himself or some last second eldritch being.

Elfilin being sent in to betray Kirby could also allow multiple endings. This is actually something I've being wondering about since the reveal of the game. I mean recent games didn't do those, but the Heroes in Another Dimension did. If there was a secret ending, of course it would be unlocked based on the amount of rescued WDs. What if the growth of the town determines wherever Elfilin betrays Kirby or not. There could be even three different endings, a bad one, a normal one and a good secret ending. The normal could be the kinda-heart-shaped friend not betraying Kirby, but also not helping him. The good one could had him help.

Ok, ok, that's enough. This ideas aren't based off anything. I just hope that if Elfilin does betray us, it won't play out the same way as Marx and Magolor.
