Long ago, monsters were locked underneath Mount Ebott, a place shrouded in stories about missing children and the horrors that might have befallen them. The last of them to go missing was an eight-year-old child called Frisk who walked out of the mountain only days after they went missing. With them were the monster that history had forgotten, having been trapped under the mountain for centuries.

The monsters were more peaceful and kind than any of the humans that greeted them. And while they were initially met with resistance, it was through Friskβs Determination that they received rights and started living amongst humans for the first time in centuries.

Among the monsters, several names stood out. Asgore Dreemurr, the king of monsters, Toriel Dreemurr, the initially reluctant queen of monsters and adopted mother of Frisk Dreemurr, Doctor Alphys, the Royal Scientist, Undyne the Undying, Captain of the Royal Guard, Papyrus Β
