.More thoughts about time...How do we remember a year?
You divide a year into 12 months,
52 weeks and 365 days.
After a year has past, it doesn't exist anymore.
But there are still pieces of it within us, and you
can easily travel back to that year by listening
to old music, wear some old clothes or just think
nostalgic. Time only depends on who is and what
happens around you.
My version of time is that we are all living in the same boat
and the water its floating on is rising.
We know we can't fly off the boat and into the future, but we
can allways dive into the past..
However the deeper we go, the darker and more faded our memories are.
However some memories will never be forgotten in the great sea,
because they have written history. Yesterday I found an old letter written by me.
That was my history

I will spend more time with this too I guess, it was made in a rush!

Also used some stockphotos for the background and bubbles..
I kind of like the result of mixing photos and comics like this

Some months ago I made a photomanip (not my favorite because it didn't come out technically so good) where the representation of the subconscious is water, it's very interesting the symbolism similarities.
The mind is so intriguing, when one remembers something is experiencing it again, mildly, but it causes emotions, it's something that makes me think about the non-linearity of time. I must to admit I should read more about it, but I feel I can learn a lot from people and their theories than a book

first of all, its mixed style caught my eye and then i really liked what you said about time... a well described analysis of past present and future... also i liked the way your work looks as if btw 2D and 3D...
this doesnt look like your other works in yr gallery...there are many that i liked a lot. i ll try to make comments on them...congratulations on DD by the way..

ohh Egil I really love how how you described that - I'm going to write it down somewhere so I can remember it for later - It's really nice, and so true.
I've seen a few pictures like that one where they mix photos and cartoons - I think they're pretty cool.

very interesting, a nice metaphor about time. the boat isn't all that boat-like though, i think it's the angle. maybe just adding a steering thingie (rudder? paddle? heck, who knows boat words anyway?) would help it.
but its' a very nice photo-manip, i like the little diver. and it's good that you included shadows, too.

one question, though... you wrote...

Contrary to that, I find the image is more detailed and clearer in 1999 than it is in 2004. Was this done on purpose? As to say... are you living in your memories? Do you cherish them more than your current life..? even though those memories are of a darker, more depressing time? I love how you've painted the waves and ripples on the water... its simple and perfect. I really like this one, sc0pe...

Actually I focused on 1999 to make it bigger and clearer just because my text was about 1999.. I had to choose a year. But yes, I remember more from 1999 than for example 2000. I guess there was more important things happened by then.
But its an interresting symbolism.. i made with purpose the years differend.. and 2005, as we are in today, is very chaotic.. in the waterripples.. its in rapid movement. We cannot really make sense of a year that we currently are in.
