Haha, here we are! The first page of chapter one! Boy, am I happy with how this one turned out. I know it's a bit later than you all were expecting, but don't worry, I'll explain that in just a minute.

As for the page itself -- wow! Set is huge! That's absolutely intentional, by the way; if you've seen this ugly old height comparison of the deities before, then you know that his true form is supposed to be about 18 feet tall (548 cm for you non-Americans out there). He is big, but he's also not the largest of the deities by any means! I should also note that, theoretically, he could be pretty much any height he wants to -- Set's a god, he can manipulate his appearance with relative ease. In TCotC lore, however, all of the gods at least have a "default state" meant to embody their true nature and the apex of what makes them them, if you know what I mean. So yeah -- this is Set's "default," so to speak, and he won't necessarily be appearing like this in future comic pages.

Honestly, it's probably safe to assume Set's kicking down Asethotep's metaphorical door in all his glory just so he can scare the shit out of her! And hey, I wouldn't blame him -- she definitely deserves it right now.

I tried to make Asethotep's reaction to this about as reasonable as possible, but I will admit I kind of lessened her horror so I didn't accidentally fall too far into comedy. I didn't want to cheapen this scene with just an entire page of Asethotep screaming, screaming, and STILL SCREAMING in terror (which, let's be real, is a completely valid response to seeing an 18-foot-tall monster-guy appear behind you in a ring of fire), as that could easily twist things into a comedic tone rather than the dramatic opening I was going for. So, I tried to fall back on the idea that she is -- at first -- just completely stumped with disbelief. Do you guys think I managed to convey her terror well in those first few expressions, or do you think I undercut it a little? Let me know!

Alright, alright, onto the important part: Egypt, why is this page so late? There are a few of reasons for that, I promise. Big culprit number one is that I literally just have not had enough time to work on the comic in between my school work, my job, and my real life responsibilities. I'm trying to find ways to work around that, of course, and I still want to be able to upload pages at least once a week. I've decided to shift my comic-making schedule to favor the beginning of the week rather than the end of the week; this way, if I post pages on Monday or Tuesday, I have all through the weekend to get a page done! From what I can tell, this method actually worked out quite well -- it's what allowed me to get this page to you today. There is, however, one last road block in the way of my schedule: my college has absolutely abysmal internet service. Originally, I intended to post this page on Monday night rather than Tuesday morning, but -- as luck would have it -- my computer just was not able to connect to the college's internet. Like, at all. According to other students on campus, this has been a prevalent issue for pretty much EVERYONE living in the campus dorms, and the only places with stable access are the academic buildings or the campus library. This last issue throws a serious monkey wrench into establishing a stable schedule, but I will do my best to work around it where I can.

All of the reasons I listed above have led me to this decision: starting this week, I will ATTEMPT to have the page posted by Tuesday morning rather than Friday night. If I can't make it by then, then shoot, I at least know I tried my damndest to make it work. I hope you all can understand the schedule change, and if you really want to see consistent updates and progress on the comic, I highly recommend joining the TCotC Discord server (link below)! I update there most frequently out of all my platforms.

With all that blabbering out of the way, I hope you enjoy this week's page!
