As always, wow, never fail to impress!
Your art is always so simple but has so much character, it's amazing

If you had something in the background for the cast shadow to land on you can avoid it feeling that way. You could also lighten the rock even more on his right (left side of the picture) where it's being lit up and where it casts a shadow on him make the light area and the cast shadow much more contrasting.
(The second one would be easier and wouldn't mess up the composition you have going on. Since it looks somewhat foggy in the background the rocks would probably be wet anyway therefore more reflective of the light.)

I was thinking a cast shadow somewhere in the background would work, I just never knew where to put it so I didn't. I still don't know. Sometimes I have trouble figuring out where certain shadows should go. The whole background is a little unfinished as I never had a plan for what to put in there. I imagined a forest but there was too much work. I might go back someday to light up the rock and see if that does anything to it. Thanks for the feedback. :]

Learning some 3d helped me to better understand lighting and perspective, so you could give that a try. Plein-air paintings are good too.
*Blender is a free 3d program that I really like to use.

Opin niist vissii eniten. Sycra on kans hyvä, kannattaa ainaki alkuun kattoo sen Foundations of Light and Shadow videot.

Nice you're getting better at refinement - your colour sense is impressive as always.
I know what you mean about preferring to draw traditionally than digitally. (Although I prefer colouring digitally.) Do you plan to scan any of your traditional work?

Thanks.
Hmm, I might. But I don't think any of them are quite deviantART quality so if I do, I would probably upload them to Facebook. Or not. Who knows.
