Description
Stellar and Strange x RubaaOnce again Rubaa finds herself with an unusual looking stallion, this time covered in spots! *SnowglobeDragon has kindly leased us her gorgeous stud Goose so Willowglen will be receving its first cross breed: and Ara-Appaloosa (or Araloosa as I prefer). With parents like these the baby is sure to be a stunner!
I also apologize for the ragged edges on Goose's spots: my tablet appears to be spazzing for no apparent reason and I have no idea what's going on there

At first, before all the spots were on him it looked nothing like him, so thankfully I stuck with it Yay for both ends of the profile spectrum

Thanks! Goose was time consuming but rewarding I think. Rubaa was much easier

Haha, my newly discovered way of painting means I could have as many as I wanted and it'd still take the same amount of work to colour... I'm going to try and pick the best looking design I come up with though

You'll never get them identical in every pic, may as well pick a pattern that is easy to replicate and still look like the same horse

Yup! I noticed Goose never has the same spots and I'm not surprised. The fantastic thing about Appys is that they do change, quite a lot, as they age so I can get away with stuff. I've actually seen very, very minimal babies grow up to be near leopard adults, so changing the design as I go along is definitely on the cards

I didn't know that the spots could change like that, how interesting. I thought it was just the amount of speckling and roaning that tended to change. Since I want to breed Nez Perce in the future, I better get my act together and learn how appy genetics work. I always avoided it because it seemed so complicated.

Yup! The changes can be quite dramatic: here's a good example.
This foal was born looking like this: [link] [link] [link]
Sheds out like this as a yearling: [link]
Before going back to normal in winter: [link] [link]
Spots begin to appear again after the winter coat starts shedding (2 years) [link]
Fully shed 2 years: [link]
Winter Coat again: [link]
And 3 years fully shed: [link]

I started clicking the links and they look nothing alike from a baby bay to a 3 yo, wonder if our friends appy babies will do that...(They got 3 mini mares and 1 appy stallion. 1 mini mare is what I believe is a sooty buckskin, maybe with silver, other is silver bay pinto(she came from the same place as the buckskin, thats why I think the buckskin may have silver) and then the 3rd mare is the studs daughter, a little frosted chestnut ) So ya, can't wait to see their babies now!

You're welcome: appy genes are wacky Sometimes you get no spots at all and other times there are millionz
Fun times all round though ^_^

Haha, I thought it was amusing as well Goose has about the least refined head on the planet (and I love eeeeet
) and Rubaa... well she is very refined XD. I am still not sure about what to do about the baby's profile, since I am dealing with polar opposites here
