I love this but I wish the detail lines were a little darker so we can see them, but I imagine once you color this they will show up better then they are on the white.

I do that so when I shade it they effectively disappear, as they're only meant to be guidlines (no horse has actual lines on them after all).

Maaaaassive canvas and sort of do lots of little strokes using about 65-70% opacity brush

Massive canvases for the win XD I usually use 3500 by 5000 pixels, I'll keep that in mind, thank you!

Indeed it is
She turned out looking far too young, but I'm not sure how to fix it

Yep, if you want her to look younger I suggest making her eyes a bit smaller. Large doe eyes are usually associated with younger girls.
They're pretty nonetheless.

I knew it
Hmm...eyes a bit smaller, lips look very nice but a bit thiner

I'd say:
Add some wrinkles at the corner of the eyes and mouth, make the cheeks rounder and sag more. Add slight bags under the eyes and thinner lips.
Really depends on how old she is supposed to be, the older the more proeminent these are.

She's only supposed to be 21, so I think it might be a bit early for bags and wrinkles

Lol I'm only 24 and I have started to get them some years ago. xD Once you stop growing you start ageing. Maybe just very slight ones?
