Jamie fiddled absently with the colt's halter as they waited to enter the ring. A demanding tug reminded him that absence was not permitted in the presence of royalty. The deep red colt was straining on his lead to get closer to a filly standing nearby, and he laid his ears back as Jamie pulled him away.

The tiny foal with the gorgeous head had well and truly blossomed, filling out his frame and adding thickness to his silvery mane with each passing day. Under the lights of the arena, he lit up like a firecracker and all who laid eyes on him felt a sense of something greater possessed by the young colt. Of course, this colt born of royal blood and coat had been born with a royal frame of mind. And inattention from anyone was simply unacceptable.

It was with this proud air and attention demanding attitude the pair entered the arena - first entrants in the youngstock class. Jamie kept an eye on his charge - he was no Blaze - yet he was for the most part unworried. For such a young colt, Prince had a wealth of showing experience in his royal treasury compared to most animals of his age. He assessed his competition with a cool air of condescension: he was gorgeous, and he knew it.

A cheer went up from the crowd, followed abruptly by the anxious cries from some of the class' younger entrants. Prince on the other hand saw this as his cue, stretching out into a glorious trot passed to him from his forefathers, lapping up the encouragement from the crowd. The colt was not done yet though - his performance was not yet complete. When asked to halt, the colt gathered all his power in his flanks and lifted his forefeet from the ground, offering an enchanting dance for his fans on the sidelines.
