Thank you. I loved the texture of these rocks. They look kind of soft, but they are hard, believe me

I love the rocky seaside.

Have you seen the white sands of Morar???
You can't beat West Coast Scotland for beautiful
beaches and stormy seas.

EintoeRn In reply to FalseMaria [2012-02-12 10:38:26 +0000 UTC]

In one of my former lives I did some sailing in these waters. I remember very well the white "singing" beaches at Loch Tarbert anchorage on the Isle of Jura.
Also spend a week on the Isle of Rhum in the back bothy with a genuine Rayburn! Bathes were allowed in the fake sandstone castle

I hope you had good weather for your trip.
It is so very beautiful up there.
I have had a Rayburnx2 and an AGAx2 in my
wanderings...so I am skilled it there strange ways.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EintoeRn In reply to FalseMaria [2012-02-12 10:55:59 +0000 UTC]

Well, actually weather was not too bad. September, mostly clear and brisk - so the Rayburn was essential. Later an Atlantic depression moved in, which of course gave wind and rain I remember that time very well - it was most enjoyable (of course, also being young).
On of of the boats (a vintage sailing boat) there was a group of art students from London. I became friendly with guy from Glasgow - a true Scotsman. Going home, I gave him a lift in my vintage Volvo and spend a night at his home. So, first thing when he arrived and was asked by his wife how it was he answered: "Well, you know there have been "Londoners" on the boat. You wouldn't believe what they did! They had milk and sugar with their porridge!" Without a second of hesitation she answered: DISGUSTING ! I shall never forget

Guilty confession.....I too put milk and sugar on my porridge.

Vintage Volvo eh? Nice.
I used to have an old Rover.*sigh*Had to give him away to a good
home though.... or see him rust into oblivion. [link]

EintoeRn In reply to FalseMaria [2012-02-12 11:12:14 +0000 UTC]

- I preferred kippers anyway
The Volvo fell apart after the trip - and certainly not so nice as the Rover ...

FalseMaria In reply to EintoeRn [2012-02-12 11:20:14 +0000 UTC]

I love Kippers too..but I never cook them in the
house as they are far too smelly.

It was a lovely car..the engine was so quiet and ran so smoothly
that when you were waiting at traffic lights you always felt that
you had stalled. It had red leather bench seats,a lovely walnut dash
board with a tool kit that slid out from underneath. It also had a
valve radio that took a couple of minutes to crackle into life.
It was built like a tank and had a stopping distance of about 6 miles.
Sorry to hear about your Volvo.

EintoeRn In reply to FalseMaria [2012-02-12 11:36:26 +0000 UTC]

What a car valve radio - 6 miles stopping distance
Rule #1: never cook Kippers in your own house

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FalseMaria In reply to EintoeRn [2012-02-12 11:42:01 +0000 UTC]

That was a little bit of exaggeration on my part...

Stopping distance of 5 1/2 miles.

Never cook kippers in your own car either.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EintoeRn In reply to FalseMaria [2012-02-12 11:45:52 +0000 UTC]

Sure - but maybe these were nautical miles
EATING kippers on your own car has to be avoided as well imho.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FalseMaria In reply to EintoeRn [2012-02-12 11:51:53 +0000 UTC]

I was measuring the distance in Ant miles.
Eating kippers in someone elses car is legitimate however.

I am using the term friend loosely...
perhaps acquaintance ...or erm..
ex friend ..following the dreadful
kipper incident.

This is called the "common duckie-syndrom" - nothing special. There is medication, though.
