that's a beauty.
until i was twelve, i never swam in a pool, or even saw one, we always went to a real beach, the longest one in Lebanon. in those years there were no beach resorts or small ugly private beaches yet, so you could walk on the sand for more than an hour without stopping.Β
my brother was very afraid of the water, no way you can get him inside. so, (big sister) i took his hand and walked until i found a "pool" like this one, and we sat there and played as much as he wanted. Β

we have tides, not so big as shown here, of course. the sand was very unequal in places, and (i imagine because it was so open from every side) i remember huge waves. i think thoese little "pools" were a mixture of both.Β oh how much i loved to be rolled by the waves and throne at the sand while swallowing a lot of water and getting all the sand into my bathing suit.
