Well, if you ask me, I think this is just a lewd little tattoo that some scallywag sailors took to branding on their biceps. Not only had they faced the Firebrand of Pearl at sea and lived, but they had even bested her galleons with hordes of fire ships! (Curse you, Age of Empires 2!)
