Age: 16 (at death) / 231 (true age)
Race: Ghost (formerly human)

Personality:
Inquisitive | Absent-minded | Kind | Loyal | Possessive | Insecure
Echo is a naturally curious person--she likes to ask questions and investigate things on her own, although she will respect people's privacy when necessary. She tends to get side-tracked easily when she finds something interesting, and is often absorbed in her own little world, oblivious to what's going on around her. She is kind-hearted and has a motherly nature at times, due to caring for her mother when she was severely ill. Because she didn't have many friends when she was alive, she is fiercely loyal to the friends she does make, to the point where she can sometimes be very possessive or jealous if she notices them spending a large amount of time with someone she doesn't know. She has low self-confidence, but always tries to be optimistic.

Likes/dislikes:

+ shiny things
+ writing poems (but she rarely shows them to people)
+ singing (unfortunately her singing is awful)
+ watching the sun rise
+ small, furry animals
+ taking things apart to see how they work
+ making new friends

- food/watching people eat (it makes her feel awkward since she can't eat anymore)
- rain (standing outside with water constantly passing through her gives her a weird feeling)

- the smell of wet paint
- people who can see her but walk through her like she's not there
- finding things to do when her living friends are sleeping

History:
Echo grew up in a small village at the base of a mountain and lived with her parents, whom she loved dearly. Her mother was a witch and her father hunted game in the nearby forest and sold it in the market for a living. Although she was friendly, she was often shunned by the other children in the village because she was feared as "the witch's daughter." However, she did have one close friend, and the two of them did almost everything together.

In the last few years of Echo's life, her mother became sick with a strange illness. Echo had gone up the mountain to look for a rare herb to use as medicine. On her way back, she was caught in a freak blizzard and died of hypothermia. Her ghost stayed behind to watch over her father; she was worried that her and her mother's deaths would break his spirit. Although he couldn't see her, he felt strangely comforted by her presence, and he was never able to come up with an explanation for why that was the case. She continued to look after him until he died of old age.

For many years afterward, Echo wandered around looking for companions to ease her loneliness. She eventually met Rosalyn , a necromancer, and the two became close friends. Rosalyn initially tried to help her properly transition into the afterlife, but since it had been so long since Echo died, and Echo had voluntarily chosen to stay behind on Earth, the gates of the afterlife were now closed to her. Echo, however, is happy to stay with Rosalyn and occasionally helps her with her job as a necromancer.

Additional info:
• She usually chooses to keep her hands and feet hidden because they were frostbitten when she died. She's very self-conscious about how they look, particularly her hands. She will sometimes show her feet, but she usually wears long socks and shoes.

• She has an extensive knowledge of medicinal herbs.

• As a ghost, she is able to pass through solid objects. She can lift solid objects for a short period of time, but it requires concentration.

• She is a terrible liar.
