If it hit her spine then maybe, also wished they didn't just kill her off. Be fun if they thought she dead, dump her body and then she is barley alive and escapes to heal her injury and get some payback later.

I don't think we should remove the blade. Since it probably keeps her from bleeding out even more.

THANK YOU!!! Fucking finally someone gets it! Seriously, I have seen people transported via ambulance to hospitals impaled on fence posts! We cut the fence post and fucking took it with us! Unless you are a trained surgeon with all the necessary equipment on hand NEVER EVER REMOVE AN IMPALED OBJECT!!! And while we are at it, never shock asystole (i.e. flat line), that will not accomplish a damn thing.

Now if the media could just stop shocking asystole I would be a very happy healthcare professional...

Isn't breaking of the impaled piece without removing it and making sure they get to someone with actual medical knowledge and equipment just common sense?

Never underestimate the rarity of "common sense".

Oh great, just remove the impaled object that has been helping to seal the wound and cause further trauma in the removal process. Way to go, dumbass, you just made it worse! (sorry if that was mean, as a professional paramedic seeing things like this strike a nerve with me)

Dude. Just let them do this. This is fiction. We know it can't be fix by only doing this. It's like when Cloud got stab by Sephiroth in FFVII.

*brought them to a medic* I know but they can't fix it with a sword in her

No, we cannot, we dress the wound while also immobilizing the impaled object in place and transport the victim to the nearest appropriate facility with all due hate where a trained trauma surgeon can properly remove the impaled object.

i am no medic but they are and can keep them stable enough get to a medical facility

GhostBear3067 In reply to deviantfan16 [2018-03-29 15:36:34 +0000 UTC]

If they are medics they would stabilize the victim with the impaled object in place while expediting transport to a medical facility. It may look counter intuitive to the lay public but that is the proper treatment in that situation. Believe me, I speak from personal experience.

And an impaled torso/abdomen is still an impaled torso/abdomen, though I would love to see what new types of surgical equipment a Dust based technological level would make available to the trauma team.

This would also be why after running Sienna through Adam did not just leave his sword in her: not only was this practical for the purposes of retrieving the weapon for future use, it causes additional trauma (that is how blades work, they cut on the way in and on the way out), and in this specific scenario creates two open wounds from which the victim can exsanguinate.
