So after I’ve seen make your mark’s recent chapter a few weeks ago, we get to see how Misty’s character development is now going after her redemption on saving the friends she now knows and love, earning her cutie mark as well secretly helping Sunny win her fight against Opaline.

She starting to have repress memories of when she actually got lost right when she meet Opaline, In a 2 part episode where she and the Mane 5 try to find who she wants was as that lost filly and by the time she remembers that she use to live in Bridlewoods and she has a father who was Alphabittle, she had a emotional reunion with him and in the follow up episode where she spends time with her dad, Alphie tries to make her remember her good old times as a filly. but yet she gets embarrassed and also emotional once again since she has been gone for a long time since she was raised by a dark mentor who mentally and (maybe) physically abused her and lost the innocent young filly until she meet Sunny and her friends.

Now I know this has nothing to do with this image since this is me recapping what we already seen, but now I will share what this is meant to represent since I brought up MYM chapter 5. Misty only fell in love with EJ to manipulate him and getting captured for Opaline so Opaline herself could use EJ either against the ponies of Equestria or using his alicorn magic to be extra stronger with the dragon fire she will require, EJ in my universe was the one pony who discovered Opaline first and didn't told the mane 5 about it so he could let Misty tell them herself prior to the events of Make your Mark chapter 4.

Misty also felt guilty on her actions the same way she did prior to the events to the aforementioned Chapter 4, She would also Tell EJ that She never wanted to be in a relationship since she was under Opaline's Order in the aftermath and when she began her Repress memories of her childhood now that she is free, she is finally opened to admitting that she did fell in love with him and wanted to be with him as she didn't want to leave him all all by himself (Even though EJ does have Gregory the griffon, Tempest Shadow and Jemima Sparkle as his other better lovers, despite Misty being his top best one) as well being more alone with or without her friends.

Pretty much It's what I could think on seeing how Misty has become a well develop character, from her journey from being A servient getting bullied and abused by her aggressive mentor to being the real hero on saving her friends who make her see the true meaning of friendship and finding who she is as a pony. I still prefer Misty as my top Waifu with Jemima Sparkle and Tempest Shadow next to her since Misty Always grown on me and like all fans, I wanted her to develop on making her mistakes into appreciating the world she now seeing as she made real friends, have some real fun the first time in her life and of course getting her Cutie mark not from Opaline, but by knowing who she truly is.

I also don't think the Real Misty character would be into any actual relationship since I thought Misty and Hitch would be in the Mane Family song, But pretty much Misty and Hitch are just friends and only friends but the thing they have in common as they both love sparky the dragon as their own child as I prefer Hitch being with either Sunny or Zipp as I can see cute romantic chemistry with them. And don't get me started with Misty and Sprout as a thing! that ship is cringe as hell!
