Won me Best in Show at my Senior Art Exhibition
deviantArt is sometimes a little weird when it comes to playing this, so I apologize in advance if the music is out of sync with the animation. If it is (which will be obvious, I think), I recommend viewing elsewhere, selecting download on the right, or letting the video cycle once over before watching. Here's the animation I worked on all fall semester 2011. It's an excerpt from the fourth chapter of my fantasy novel series.
This isn't the ending I had in mind; the original ending was a lot more complicated and definitely longer. With my time limit, though, definitely not feasible. My teacher liked this ending, so I'm fine with it.
There are a million things wrong with it, I know; please don't point them out to me.
I'm much better at animation than I was before, but I just don't have the time to fix the problems right now. Maybe I will later.After Effects Animation

Ah, thanks for asking.
His changing eye-color is a trademark of his character. It changes depending on his emotion, and is symbolic in that he has difficulty defining himself as a person.

Gosh yeah, it takes a long time. It wasn't until I starting making animation myself, that I started to appreciate how much time and effort is put into it. I'm sure they'll be great when you eventually get to make them

Yeah, I don't understand it, though. That door was completely different, and was filled with dark, creepy things.
But there are so many doors in so many things, that using a door in a supernatural way will almost always be compared to others that have done it in the past. It's not the most original idea. Doors are in all a perfect symbol of passing from one place to another, so of course they're going to be used all over the place. Kingdom Hearts also uses a door, and I've heard that comparison too. I could see more of a similarity to the KH door than FMA, considering it's a door of light.

Oh god, what a brave warrior you are. Doing alone a highly detailed character is a challenge few dare into. But I guess an emotional animation like this would not be as impacting if you simplified it to, say, cartoon. Wit this aesthetics the feeling is unique. Too bad days don't have 48 hours, I feel your pain.
