hmm i seem to have thrown out the psd for this one. maybe that was a bad move. i know there was a turquoise outer glow, and like a dark blue soft dropshadow set do color dodge or something. just a line with something like that

this is great man .... it certainly needs more ... as you have pointed out .... and i too have had this graphics block .. but black is easy for me to work with , i made the best black style mna , i use it all the time is the template is to be dark etc... took me awhile of experimenting to get it just right but ... in this design my fave area is actually the toip triangle shape , i love the colouring of it , look s fab ....
