Actually, I know that character and she wears that piece quite often. I believe in this picture, its coming off.

Weel, from what I know of her. Her powers seem to increase when she wears that mask, kind of a "enrage" effect. Last time I saw a comic of her wearing that mask, she busted out of a mummification and quickly captured the person wrapping her.
