“The seeds of kindness can light even the most cynical of hearts. All it takes is for one to extend their hoof to someone in need…” –Princess Celestia on the study of kindness.

I only just remember having that quote read to me a few minutes ago. In fact…I can’t even remember what I was doing before I ended up in this very room. The only ponies I have any connections to are the three in front of me, two Princesses and a pony named Fluttershy who agreed to take me in. I’ve been told I was in the royal palace of Canterlot, the capital of Equestria…yeah, good luck getting anything out of me as to what that means. My mind is drawing a TOTAL blank as to what is what in Equestria. How I even have a basic idea of what ANYTHING is still eludes me.

I remember when I first spoke to the elder princess, Celestia, she first said to me, “Hello there. We’ve been expecting your awakening. I am Princess Celestia, bringer of sunlight and co-ruler of Equestria.” My eyes were hazy at first, but when they cleared up, I saw her, her younger sister, Luna, and of course Fluttershy. All of them were there for my apparent first day on Equestria…ever.

Luna promptly gave me more of the same greeting with, “And I am Princess Luna, bringer of the moonlight and co-ruler of Equestria. We’re sisters and we’ve been keeping you safe before your awakening.”

The two were giving me a lecture of some sorts about how I was found, which I know I get bored with easily when I looked off and saw Fluttershy for the first time. Without having to be told it, I knew it by heart. “Fluttershy…” I muttered.

She almost blushed and turned away and muttered something I couldn’t hear before Celestia turned around chuckled “For one who remember nothing, you sure managed to remember the mare who found you in the first place.”

I was shocked and replied, “Wait, really!? How!? I thought-“

“Oh, it was just an act of kindness…” Fluttershy muttered nervously, “I couldn’t stand seeing you lost in the woods…you poor thing. So…what is your name? I didn’t catch it before I brought you to the princesses.”

I then drew a major blank, since I realized an even worse truth: I could not remember my own name. Only two words came to my mind...Colt…and Magnum.

“Colt Magnum…” I replied, “…my name is Colt Magnum.”

I notice Celestia and Luna commenting amongst themselves about something before they turned back to me. Celestia replied, “Very well…Colt Magnum. We welcome you to Equestria, since you can’t remember anything before today. Since you seem to have taken a liking to Fluttershy already…”

I suddenly became flustered over the fact these princesses seem to be able to get into my head so fast. I tried to protest before Flutters couldn’t help but giggle “Aw, its ok, Colt. I don’t mind.” She chuckled so nicely, “You look like you could use a home, you poor thing.”

I wasn’t sure what to say, but the two princesses turned around, then Luna replied, “Yes, since she is your only connection to Ms. Fluttershy, you shall be staying with her until you feel like you can get your bearings on your own.”

“That is…if you want to…” Fluttershy squeaked meekly. Normally, I thought I’d despise this kind of weak behavior, but with her it felt like I not only felt bad for her, but she almost needed protection from…everything. Against my better judgment, my heart melted and I got lost in her eyes.

“Alright…you seem lonely,” I replied, “And I don’t know anypony else to stay with.”

“Aw…don’t worry,” Fluttershy nuzzled back, “We’ll find you some friends to hang out with. You’ll be just fine in Ponyville.” I swear Fluttershy was WAY too nice to be able to stand up for herself. I’ve never felt like I needed to protect somepony before….even the term somepony felt foreign to me.

I suppose that moment of weakness is what would end the fog I was in and as soon as I signed a few papers for the Princess to keep in their records, I moved onto Ponyville with Fluttershy. This impulsive act of kindness would begin my story…the story of being the new and resident impossible pony in town. No longer would my past define me, since all meaning of my own past is lost to me. Whatever came before me would be something I may never figure out. All I know is two things…I am Colt Magnum, the stallion without a past, and I owe Fluttershy a debt of gratitude I MUST somehow repay for not only her sake, but for the name of my peace of mind and sanity. This is my story…I hope I can make it count.
